Deus Ex is finished, but we'll have to wait until all the DVDs are made and distributed.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution publisher Eidos-Montreal has announced that the code for the forthcoming sci-fi shooter-slash-RPG has gone gold.
This means that the coding process has finished, so the final code only needs to be prepared for distribution.
This not only involves pressing thousands of DVDs, printing the boxes and so on, but also uploading the code to Steam’s and
OnLive’s servers.
The announcement reiterated that the game will be on sale in Europe on August 26 this year, and will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year, despite the absence of a Deus Ex release for the last eight years and a cluttered calendar of other triple-A titles due in September and November.
As such, we’ve done a fair amount of reporting on Human Revolution:
In case that doesn’t sway you that Human Revolution is a game worth watching out for, here’s the latest trailer:

The problem is, I'm not sure if my GF's bought if for me as a belated xmas present or not, as there's 1 she still yet to give me and wont tell me what it is... DAMN HER!
"I take it they were agreeable?"
"They didn’t really have a choice."
"Have they seen the previews?"
"Oh yes. Most certainly. When I mentioned we could put them on the preorder list for the Augmented edition, they were so willing it was almost pathetic."
Frankly I can't wait!
+ rep (no explanation needed ;))
If I wait much longer I'm gonna asplode :/
i will give you all of my 8000 rep for this moment of glorious victory. ;)
It's going to be arse.
It's going to be arse.
(Rocks back and forth in the corner, hugging knees, in a pathetic display of paradise lost)
I am quietly hopeful that it will be good. Got mine on pre-order (and I have only ever done that a few times).
"I never asked for this."
"It's not the end of the wait, but you can see it from here."
I might talk like this all month :) if people don't like it, then "what a shame."
In other news...

I don't know about it going to be arse exactly, but big hype and very high player expectations could well lead to some big disappointment's.
SO let's write it off now so if it is even semi playable, it's a small victory for those who love the original
Not when they're done this well.
Usually yes, however this time theres been tons of in engine trailers. And all the live action trailer did was explain back story and make it clearer to me who "Purity First" are, plus it lead up to the Sarif Industries website being "hacked"..... Which was pretty cool.
Edit : In actual fact how are live action trailers any more fake than CG trailers that don't use the game engine? That must lead to more of a feeling of being cheated, as its unrepresentative of the game, but its not always clear its the case.
As long as they have a better inventory system and an A.I. that doesn't ignore corpses.
Now just to get the peevishly mentioned lovely girlfriend to complete Deus Ex.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all
That's not what I said and not the point I was making.
I loved the original, but as with an awful lot of these long awaited highly hyped games, player expatiation gets to such a point that it inevitably ends up with some big disappointments, it'll be the same for BF3 or HL3.
I really hope it will be good, although as Woodspoon implies it can be a bit of a lose/lose situation for a game like this. It rests on a historical classic but isn't close enough in time to be presented as an incremental evolution of the earlier game (like the GTA or Mass Effect games). Instead it needs to be presented as a revolution/reinvention of the earlier game (like Tim Russel Davies era Dr Who).
But when presenting the game as a revolution/reinvention the developer is then stuck between a rock and hard place: either they basically clone the earlier classic but with updated graphics whereupon everyone says 'nothing new here, the original did it better, this is out of date by a decade' (c.f. Duke Nukem Forever), or the developer evolves it and tries to make a modern game on similar themes whereupon everyone says 'I don't like it, they changed too much, it isn't as good as the original game' (c.f. Far Cry 2).
But it gives me a lot of hope that they put out the original game as a (so to speak) freebie with the Augmented Edition -- it suggests that they are not afraid of comparisons with the earlier game and actively want new players to consider playing the earlier game first.
Cannot wait :)
...ahem, nope not fussed at all. Definitely unconcerned about being off work from the release date until the following week, quite conveniently :p
*prays to $diety* "Please don't let it be crap, please be better than Deus Ex 2".
