The Left 4 Dead 2 demo will hit next month, while the Crash Course campaign will be here next week.
Valve has released a statement from the Tokyo Games Show, declaring that it hopes to have a demo of
Left 4 Dead 2 available next month. No plans were officially announced regarding platforms, exclusivity or content - but the target date is October 27th.
While Valve hasn't confirmed if the demo will be open to everyone or not, the suspicion is that the demo will only be made available to those who have already pre-ordered the game. Valve had previously announced such an idea and did the same with
Left 4 Dead.
Either way though, the demo looks set to give fans a go with the game well ahead of the official November 17th release date.
As if that wasn't enough, Valve has also confirmed that the new pack of
Left 4 Dead content will be available next week, launching on September 29th for both Xbox 360 and PC.
The new content will consist of the
previously unveiled 'Crash Course' campaign, which is a two-level campaign intended mainly for Versus play and which bridges the gap between No Mercy and Blood Harvest. It has an estimated play-time of 30 minutes and will include new Survival maps.
The Crash Course add-on will be free for all PC users, but will cost 560 MS points on the Xbox 360 - something Valve claims it has
been forced into by Microsoft.

I really hope you used "boycott" humorously...
Seriously people, quit it with the boycott nonsense -.-
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.
NOT BUY BEFORE YOU TRY
If it's anything like L4D1, it'll be available to Pre-Orders a week earlier than everyone else, as a way of saying thank you for pre-ordering, that's all. It'll still be available to none-pre-orders, obviously, just a week later.
Personally I think I'll pre-order the game just to get at the demo. I loved L4D 1 and am seriously stoked about this one. I also honestly don't mind paying for it if it means I get a better gaming experience out of it. -£30+awesome new game > £0+less awesome add-on stuff any day.
WTF?
If you own L4d can you play the demo then?
Partly, I was digging at both the boycott malarkey and myself for playing the demo too much and almost ruining the actual game.
Why? It's not wrong to stand up for what you believe in. I have a lot of respect for people that can do that, even if I don't agree with whatever they're standing for, people don't stand up for themselves enough. It's just too easy to do nothing.
Owait... it's not an option on the Valve website. Nice business plan there.
It's going to take a lot for me to consider getting L4D2, a couple of levels from a couple of campaigns with vs available would do nicely. What does it matter if they're putting out a lot of content for free? They can take it down again after release like they did with the first demo. If I were them I would be aiming to get people addicted, and if it's as good as they say, then going back to L4D1 afterwards will feel like crap and they'll want to move onto the 2nd.
You have to admire a company that has basically made mods to their one engine and sold them as different games. I for one will be happy to see the end of dx9 games, dx9 is like a super-model .... who is 45
Looking forward to it
