BioShock will be in stores worldwide by August 24th - we can't wait!
Elizabeth Tobey, a 2K Games Community Manager, has revealed that BioShock's release date has been pushed back to late August from the original June release expectations.
European customers are set to get their hands on the game on
August 24th, while our friends across the pond will be able to get hold of BioShock a couple of days before us on August 21st.
Irrational Games, the development team behind BioShock, have described the soon-to-be-released sci-fi horror first person shooter as a spiritual successor to the System Shock franchise.
Back in January, 2K Games revealed that the game
would have no multiplayer element; however, the publisher did indicate that there would be an online component of some description, but specific details were not disclosed.
BioShock uses a heavily tweaked version of Epic's Unreal Engine 3 and is set for a simultaneous release on both PC and Xbox 360. We've already witnessed how great Unreal Engine 3 can look on both the PC and Xbox 360 thanks to the stunning visuals in Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas.
As a result, we've got high hopes for this title looking even better and the developers are talking the visuals up. We're also expecting the game to come with a bit of
DirectX 10 thrown into the mix, too.

And what is with all these delays? Is nothing ever going to come out on schedule anymore?
Since when has any console game even vaguely approached the subtlety and cleverness of System Shock? They're blasting on about the graphics too much; that's -not- the point.
This is shaping up to be a debacle like the Deus Ex sequel. Still, not to worry - with the obsession with "DirectX 10!" and Xbox-style graphics, unless I spend £1000 on my PC, I won't be able to play it anyway...

Has anyone else seen anything else on the Irrational/X-Com rumour ? I've seen one report on a site I'm not sure I trust which claimed someone from irrational had listed it on the company sites game development credits, then hurriedly removed it when it was spotted, with further investigation showing that 2K actually own the rights to X-Com also..
Anyway, this sucks a bit :( but as long as its not delayed again, its not the end of the world (Ie HL2 :p)
