Take the bit-tech Reader Survey and win prizes!

There are lots of prizes up for grabs in the bit-tech reader survey - it's a way for us to show our appreciation for your continued support!

2007 was a year of growth for bit-tech, and we don't intend to slow down during 2008.

We have already moved to new and bigger offices and have enhanced our server infrastructure to support the ever increasing demand for our content. We are also in the final stages of expanding the editorial team to further increase content output.

Since our last reader survey in 2006, bit-tech has changed – not only have we changed but you, our readers, have no doubt changed as well. We're eager to understand how you've changed.

To that end, we have partnered up with MSI, Corsair and BFG Technologies to bring you some great prizes (totalling approximately £1,700), as a way of showing our appreciation for your support.

The prizes include an MSI GX600 gaming notebook worth nearly £900, a BFG Tech GeForce 9800 GTX OCX graphics card and a great selection of prizes from Corsair. These include HX1000W and TX750W power supplies, two 4GB DDR2 memory kits and two 32GB flash drives.

All you've got to do to be in with a chance of winning one (or more) of these prizes is to spend a few minutes of your time completing the survey as accurately and honestly as you can. By doing this, you will allow us to better understand our readership and help to make bit-tech.net a better experience.

We really care about what you think and we would like to make the site an even better place for you, with more of what you like and less of what you don't. Thanks for your support and please feel free to ask us any questions in the forums.

Who are eligible? UK only? NA only? Usually Europeans get shafted in these.

Completed regardless =D

Selecting NA does not change the currency. So I will have to convert I guess.

Is there an age limit? How about a region limit? Both my father and I love bit-tech, and I don't want to get hit by some rule after the fact.
Gravemind123 23rd April 2008, 20:07 Quote
Took the survey, wouldn't mind any prizes, but I gave some suggestions that would be nice to see too, but they would probably create some extra work for reviewers.

Well my only complaint with Bit-tech is how slow the website loads now and how slow it is to post, I mean sometimes it takes 15 seconds for a post to go threw and at first it was me but I have been on different systems, networks and area of town and it is just slow.... whats up with that???

Yeah, doesn't seem as peppy as it used to.

I took the review, but conversions were annoying.. I use an Eee PC as my main computer, was interesting having to put in my resolution. :P

Currency Conversion? I just took the L x2 to get the $. And I read "Maximum PC" but that wasn't an option. Probably once again cause I'm in the United States. I get that you're based in the UK so these are just minor quirks. Otherwise, it was a good survey. Enjoy.

whats weird is I have been to other UK sites that are based server is in the UK and they load a lot faster then this does, the home page, articles and when posting threw the articles is slow, everything else seems to load alright.

...depends on the situation, if the PSU is capable of handling the new system or not. no need to trash a good psu. but I guess that question is in there for certain PSU brand sponsors, and for them a 3rd answer does not really help much with marketing. dang - I just owned myself :o

good survey - I have a few niggles - the how would you describe yourself needed an "all of the above" and gaming time for me is less the 4hrs a week sometime, but I guess thats just me...anyway, enjoy!

I just assumed that the currency listed (sorry, but I don't know if it's a pound or euro) was worth about 2 USD and since I didn't spend more than $100 on any components last year that section was pretty easy.
Mentai 24th April 2008, 02:29 Quote
With the currency conversions I used google! Also, in terms of paying attention to advertising, I don't at all, 1) Because it's specific to the UK and 2) Because I only pay attention to items that score well with bit tech. Also, things like gpu buying are done after research, not because random brand released something new and it has an ad... If only recommended products were advertised it would work really well.
Tyinsar 24th April 2008, 05:15 Quote
It's funny how in one case "market research" can be "an invasion of privacy <insert indignant rant>" and in another it's: "Aww, they care about us <insert warm fuzzy feeling here>".

Anyway - completed ;)

Cupboard 24th April 2008, 08:35 Quote
Hoping I win prize 3 or lower! It would have been good to have an "Any other comments" box at the end. I will just put them here though

PSUs - it depends if there are good enough. And evolutionary change doesn't need a new one usually (e.g. new graphcs card) but a whole new computer might.

Advertising - some are really silly, like the "Be an environmental overclocker" one. I can't remember who the advert is for, but it annoys me! There is also the advert for an 8400GS, claiming to give the graphics than you desire, or something similar. What!?!

Email - no real need really, I spend so long on B-T!
StephenK 24th April 2008, 09:23 Quote
All done. Keep up the excellent work :)
Hiren 24th April 2008, 09:34 Quote
There is no age or region limit on prizes. I would ask that you fill in your real name as it other wise makes it difficult to contact you if you win.
mikeuk2004 24th April 2008, 09:41 Quote
You do not had a general comments box for specific feedback. Are the result automated into little pie charts? and your not reading each individual one?

Just curious.

In the ad section you should have included an option for "I use adblock, I don't see ads in the site". Not nice of us but people do use adblock.

Why there are three red crosses above the email address at the really last page ?
notatoad 24th April 2008, 12:29 Quote
the three red crosses mean that the field gets verified, so you have to fill in something that looks like a real email address. (of course, putting in a fake email address would be stupid when there are prizes involved)

The problem with that conversion is that products aren't priced the same in Europe as they are in the US. There seems to be a $1=1 pound pricing scheme so if I purchased the same parts I'd spend more of my income in the UK that here in the US. I ended up estimating how many pounds the items I buy would cost and then answered, hoping that gives Bit the answer they're looking for.

Is it open worldwide or for UK only ? Done the survey.Any prize would be superb. :)
pistol_pete 25th April 2008, 14:34 Quote
I found the price bandings a bit vague, if I remember right the options for "how much did you spend last year were like" 0-1000, 1000-2500... I spent £1100 on my baby but I think selecting 1000-2500 is a bit misleading. Maybe more options in the smaller values.

Also, a general comments box would have been nice, like other people said. Could just say something here, but it's not as anonymous as in the survey.

Totally agreed here. Your advertisers need to realise that we're reading high quality up to the minute reviews on hardware. Trying to convince us that an 8400 is the dogs nutz just isn't going to cut it. in my case it makes me less inclined to buy from them because they're taking the piss and not respecting our intelligence

petty points aside, it's my birthday the day before the deadline, so make my day a treat and give me any of that gear! it'll all be used well i promise!
