Free PhysX game, Warmonger, available

Get an Ageia PhysX card and you too could be bouncing boxes around in no time!

Ageia has walked a rocky road this last year and attempts to bring hardware accelerated physics to the masses have been met with very mixed responses. First there was CellFactor: Revolution, which didn't exactly bowl us over, and it was swiftly followed by Unreal Tournament 3, which had major performance issues when we tested it.

Next in the line-up of new PhysX games is Warmonger, a free multiplayer FPS which we had a look at a while back when we had a chat with the folks at Ageia.

The game has been developed over the last few months by NetDevil and can be downloaded for free at the official website, though you will need an Ageia PhysX card to run it. Check out the system requirements below.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2MB L2 Cache,2.13GHz,1066) or equivalent
RAM: 2GB RAM
GPU: Nvidia 7900 graphics card or equivalent
PPU: PhysX 100 Series Processor strongly recommended, with system software 7.11.13 or later
HD: 1.8GB of available space

Are you going to give it a go? Do you have a PhysX card? Answer these questions and more in the forums.

You managed to make it work yet Joe?
Quote CardJoe 30th November 2007, 07:46
Nope. I got something better for playing with physics at the moment anyway :)

You need a PPU to play it? As in, without one it won't work at all?

Nah, all you get is a "better" experience.

Can I hazard a guess? Is it an implementation that uses a 3rd gfx card for the physics?

Quote outlawaol 30th November 2007, 09:04
Well of course it is.. its **** in comparison to Crysis, COD4... but what about the physics? Everyone loves when boxes go flying... dont you remember the gravity gun in HL2?! For Gods sake man!

:D

Ok.. I had some fun with making flags and stuff tear, but the point of the game is physics.. yet at the same time while playing it, there were banners and flags all over the place, the entire thing was screaming "HOLY CRAP PHYSICS STUFF!!!" to the point where it just got so damn annoying I was happy I didn't have a PPU.
