Holy moly. This video is just insane. Thought Half Life 2 was leet? Thought Doom 3 was dope? Far Cry is coming to... fiddle them both.

Linked over at Neowin, here, it shows a handheld video of the next generation Far Cry engine.

The engine, which runs on DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, sports some amazing features. Of particular note are the volumetric clouds, the soft shadowing, the interactive and fully destructible environments and the soft particle effects.

Apparently, it's up and running using current hardware - and it looked fairly smooth too. Expect 7800s and X1800s to run it, and everyone else to cry (no pun intended).

The file is just over 4mb, and is well worth the download, even if it is fairly low-res.
