The Witcher 2 v2.0 update detailed

CD Projekt has revealed some of the new features for The Witcher 2's 2.0 update.

CD Projekt has confirmed some of the new features that will be added to The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings in the new The Witcher 2 2.0 update today.

The hefty version 2.0 update for the PC version of The Witcher 2 will add in all of the new content which is being added for the recently announced Xbox 360 version of the game.

That will include over 20 technical enhancements to the engine, as well as a new Dark Mode difficulty and Arena Mode.

Arena Mode is, as it sounds, a fight against endless waves of enemies. Dark Mode is a new high-level difficulty for the singleplayer campaign and which adds in new 'dark' items of incredible power, according to CD Projekt.

We'll be catching up with CD Projekt again over the course of the show, but you can also hear our thoughts on The Witcher 2 and the rest of GamesCom 2011 in our latest gaming podcast.

The Witcher 2 is one of the best games of the year, and looks stunning too - check it out in the trailer below:

Wow, someone's on a late shift at the office?
On subject though; CD Projekt are fast becoming one of my favourite game producers. No DRM and free DLC. WIN!

I stormed through the first chapter of this game, and decided to take a break for a bit as I had other things to do and didn't wanna play it in little chunks. Might was for this patch to resume, see what else it adds to the engine.

CD Projekts are indeed a great company, I hope this game made them a shed load of cash.

Yet another excuse (besides the epic story) to play through the game again, dark mode here I come!

Not only do these guys know how to make hot games, but they also know how to treat their players. I love them more and more.

Awesome, I knew v2 was coming so thought I might wait to finish the game. Now I know there's a dark mode I think I'll finish my first pay through and have a second go with the higher difficulty (and new shinies :D)

Will be getting this indefinitely. I'm currently on my second play-through and have clocked 55 hours in total. Stunning game in every aspect.

Yeah same here & even though I haven't had a good chance to play it I bought it on release direct from them, truth is if game devs/pubs put out truly awesome games & give gamers credit as not being pirates they will make many fans of them .

I managed to have a little play time into it & it rocked :).

Is that a sale price? Anyone played this on an older system? I've been hesitant to pick it up as I'm on a C2D and 9800gtx+. . . .

It's on a 40% discount until Monday 07:59 GMT (see the related GOG post).

It *should* run on your system but you may need to stick with Low settings (the minimum spec is a 2.2GHz Core Duo, 1GB RAM on Win XP, 2GB on Vista/7, 512MB RAM video card supporting Pixel Shader 3.0 - Nvidia 8800/ATI Radeon HD3850 onwards).

thanks for that - it's kind of what I expected with the settings. I enjoyed the first one that I think I'm gonna wait until I upgrade so I can enjoy the second in all it's HD glory.

Shame they still won't offer truly widescreen play for ATi/AMD/Radeon players. A game that should be cutting edge not supporting >1 monitor - come on guys, get with the program

Heh - it wasn't until the 1.3 patch that 16:10 and 4:3 aspect ratios were supported (the game originally only rendered in 16:9 leaving big black borders on 4:3 monitors).

You may wish to contact CDPR directly for that feature - it shouldn't be too hard to implement now they've made aspect ratios more flexible.

I did - and like all other ATi users received no reply. They are really dumping on ATi users in a big way and I, for one, won't be buying another CDProjekt game unless it's sorted soon

I really want adjustable fov

When they added in 16:10 support, they actually made it worse. It's so zoomed in it's easier to play it with black bars aka pre patch

rofl. What a piece of work.

So do you buy games from anybody? I'm sure every other publisher/developer doesnt release all their games with multi-screen support.

On-topic: This game is becoming more and more interesting to me. Considering purchasing.
