Far Cry 3 will introduce a new character, Jason Brody, who ends up stranded on a tropical island.
Ubisoft Entertainment has announced a new installment in the Far Cry series at E3 2011 in Los Angeles today, Far Cry 3.
Far Cry 3 is in development at Ubisoft's Montreal studio, though Ubisoft Shanghai and Massive Entertainment are also working on the title, which is currently set for a vague 2012 release.
In development for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, Far Cry 3 will introduce an entirely new character and story, just as Far Cry 2 did compared to the Crytek original.
The new story will see players take the role of Jason Brody, a man stranded on a mysterious tropical island 'lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing
Ubisoft is promising a large amount of player agency, with Brody able to 'slash, sneak and shoot [his] way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of morality
'. Players will also be able to dictate how the story unfold.
Opinion is still divided regarding the last entry in the series, Far Cry 2
