Blizzard has said it would only want James Cameron to work on a StarCraft film.
Blizzard's Rob Pardo has said that, while the publisher has long been in a position to make a TV series or film based on the
StarCraft franchise, it would only want to do so with the right talent involved.
In fact, if the Blizzard team were to choose anyone to work on such a project then Pardo says it would have to be James Cameron.
"
We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners," Pardo told
MTV.
"
We probably could have made a ['StarCraft'] movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us."
"
I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a 'StarCraft' movie?' we'd probably sign that."
That may have to remain a dream for now however, and Blizzard will have to cope with Sam Raimi's work on an upcoming
World of Warcraft film, which is still in the story-development phase.

At least it will look pretty.
But if they're only interested in Cameron then we may as well say good bye now.
How very true.
Nope I did too, my first though was "He'll be a bit busy with the new baby though, won't he?".
SC has lotsa boomz, and Cameron likes boomz.
Maybe Blizzards never actually seen Avatar and don't know how bad it is.
Cameron won't need to work again, not his family for generations to come.
Though besides that, it's like just like you/others have said: there are a lot of parallels between Avatar and SC. Marines in giant walkers, aliens on distant planets, shiny graphics, etc.
I thought "Surely the Prime minister has better things to do" :P
haha, it's all about the money!
Well, they might end up with something like the Blair Witch Project - ie something epic on a low budget. Alternatively they might end up with something like the film I did for my GCSE art project.
Agreed.
To be honest I'm not sure if I would want Cameron to make it, He has not really done anything good since T2 imho. Ridley Scott would be better. At the end of the day I think they will have to throw a ton money at it to get a good directer, or they could just get Paul Anderson to do it (before you flame, just remember Event Horizon).
Does anyone else think Robert Downey Jr. looks like Barney in Half-Life 2
Dont suppose it would matter, youd probably only se his hand and the back of his head...
you know now that you mention it...
