Duke Nukem 3D has arrived on the iPhone at last, though the control system is apparently a little flaky still.
An official version of
Duke Nukem 3D has finally been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch after a long wait since
the original announcement.
Currently on sale via the App Store for
$2.99 / £1.79,
Duke Nukem 3D is a complete and faithful port of the original PC game and features a full 20+ hour experience according to seller Machineworks LLC.
For those of you who missed out on the game when it first launched in 1996 and went toe-to-toe with the likes of
Quake,
Duke Nukem 3D tells the story of the eponymous muscle-bound commando who singlehandedly tries to repel an alien invasion when his shuttle gets show down over LA.
Unfortunately though, the current version of
Duke Nukem 3D for the iPhone is getting a mixed reaction from gamers right now and the control system for the game is proving a little controversial. Players are given a choice between two control systems - either two digital thumbsticks or a series of sliders and buttons similar to those used in
Prey for the iPhone. Early reports however suggest that neither system is really working all that well at the moment.
The good news though is that 3D Realms' George Broussard has publicly
addressed the situation and promised that an update is on the way that should fix things for the game.
Are you interested in
Duke Nukem anymore, or are you just sick and tired of series by this point? Let us know in

I'm kind of amazed that Apple are allowing such a blatantly sexual/violent thing in their App store, though. Given their seemly random refusal and removal of Apps...
bye bye battery life!
am hoping its the same as castle wolfenstein and those controls were spot on, the tilt mechanism is just a waste of time.
Orly?
"Wanna Dance?"
haha, love this game.
Not a huge fan of shooters on my iPhone but might give this one a go once the controls are fixed...
In iphone 3.0 there is parental controls...
So what you are saying is that Apple does not ban adult related content on the 3G iPhone?
I think you'll find he is saying :
