While details are scarce on the new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii, it's possible that it will require the Wii MotionPlus.
Speaking at E3 2009 Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that he is working on a new
Legend of Zelda game for the Wii - one which may require the Wii MotionPlus controller add-on to play.
While Miyamoto didn't have a lot of details to share about the game at this point he did show a large painting of a pale blue figure wearing a helmet. While that might not mean a lot right now, Miyamoto has claimed it features central story elements of the game and reflects how far along they are with the title.
"
To be honest with you, I really wanted to announce a Zelda game for Wii at this E3. But rather than think about something to bring you to show you, we really wanted to focus on actual game development," he said, according to
Eurogamer.
"
I would like to say we hope to bring it to you next year. It may take a little longer," was all that the
Mario creator would say on when gamers could expect to get hold of the title.
While Nintendo didn't drop any startling new details on the game, it was hinted that the game may require
the Wii MotionPlus controller add-on to play.
"
We'd like to make it compatible with Wii MotionPlus," Miyamoto confirmed. "
It's quite possible it will be playable only with Wii MotionPlus. The potential for it becoming MotionPlus-only depends of course on how well Wii Sports Resort sells."

Legend of Zelda game, or would you rather that Nintendo looked to create some original IP for once? Let us know your thoughts in

Discuss in the forums Replyi liked Majora's Mask more than Ocarina of Time anyway, they need to bring back that awesome book of happiness sub-quest.
Edit: Also this announcement should have made during the press conference. Nintendo's E3 conference was pretty boring to me with only a few announcements that kept me interested ( Metriod M, Galaxy 2, and Kingdom Hearts for DS).
WiiMotion Plus was said to be included (as an official statement) in Red Steel 2 and Wii resort.
Rumor suggest a other games as well.
So it's not all that bad. Zelda game is going to be announced NEXT E3 for, my guess, the year after that (like Metroid), so by that time you should have at least 2 Wiimote with it, and probably start producing Wiimote with it integrated (my guess).
Nintendo is releasing a new version of <insert old title rehashed 1000 times already eg. Zelda / Mario> as they simply have no new software ideas.
Seriously... has Nintendo released any original content for the wii other than wii sports/wii fit ?
While I agree with you, you can't deny that Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 innovated both their respective genres. Rumour has it that Nintendo has realised they need to drastically alter the Zelda formula for this next title, which is why it's taking so long and Miyamoto has his hands all over it.
I don't see the problem with using the same IP if there are significant differences between each game. Hell it's been years since the last donkey kong, and everyone seems to want a title with kid icarus. I think people that buy Nintendo products that aren't the wii fit mums don't actually want new IP anyway.
Wii motion plus only compatibility = :(
Same old sh1t trying to make money isn`t it, it`s a business to these guys not so much a passion. Sorry miya.
