Despite rumours that Lionhead was working on a PC port, there is no PC version of Fable 2 planned.
Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios is not currently being ported to the PC despite rumours, say Lionhead employees in official rebukes on the
Lionhead forums.
While Lionhead has been busy putting the finishing touches to the first batch of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 exclusive
Fable 2, rumours have been circulating that a PC port of the free-roaming RPG is in the works.
Community Managers speaking on the Lionhead forums were pretty clear however, stating outright that "
We're not working on a PC version of Fable 2."
"
If this changes we'll make sure you know about it on our website(s)," he added, just to help keep the hope alive despite the fact that
Fable 2 is firmly listed as an Xbox 360 exclusive by Microsoft.
While the first
Fable game was eventually expanded and moved across to the PC, it isn't the first popular series that has abandoned the PC format mid-series.
Gears of War was also moved across to the PC eventually, but then Epic confirmed that it would not be working on a
PC version of Gears of War 2, ever.
Fable 2 was released by Lionhead back in November last year and you can check out our thoughts on the game in our
Fable 2 casual gamer review, written by Joe's little sister.

The modifications for it would have been awesome. ;P
*cries in the corner*
But to be honest, I was so underwhelmed by Fable 1 on the PC that I really don't care. I've been disappointed with every Lionhead game I've played. *shrug*
Have fun tinkering with your console games, Molyneux. I'm sure the lowered quality bar and expectations have done a lot to make your days at work simpler.
as i cant
I'd really like for "Fable 2" to be ported to the PC, though. Fable (1) had its flaws but was still very enjoyable to play. One of the few games to lure me away from CS/CZ, for instance. :)
that wasn't a big loss, tbh. but it's a shame people are going to be missing out on fable ii :(
It's crap companies rule out certain platform's with games. But i guess its just one of those things.
Their loss.
Indeed! I've finished Fable 5 times on the PC, just for the heck of it. I really loved that game, the freedom of decisions, the "good/evil" choices and the simplicity of it. It was a great game for a casual RPG fan. And I was waiting for Fable2 for ages.
No port? Sucks!
Cheers!
money talks, sadly.
Me too, still play fable 1 occasionally now, looks lovely at 1920x1200 with AA on
was looking forward to doing the same thing for Fable 2 (i'd be more than happy to buy it again on the PC)
Lets hope they change their mind in the future
:( :? :( :( :( :( :( :( :( >:( >:( >:( >:(
forget facts, PC gaming is riddled with piracy!¬ We won't lose money to pirates if we don't release on that platform!¬
(lets conveniently ignore all the lost sales from not releasing on that platform in the first place, and that there is piracy on the consoles as well)
(And if we do release on PC, i'm sure the paying customers won't mind brutal anti-copying schemes that horrifically inconvienience paying customers whilst pirates laugh at us and crack the game within minutes! It's a plan without flaws!¬ )
I am not going to get a 360 - ever. The only console game(s) I play are Guitar Hero, and those are the only console games that interest me. These I can play fine on my PS2.
Black & White was fun... if you lasted beyond the un-skippable and extremely annoying tutorial. There was nothing I liked more than spanking my naughty monkey!
