Infinity Ward: "Stop interviewing Treyarch"

Infinity Ward reckons that developers shouldn't compare Call of Duty 4 and 5 at all.

In a furious internet rant on his work blog Infinity Ward community manager Rob Bowling has called for sites to stop interviewing Treyarchs Noah Heller, who he feels is drawing nonsense comparisons between Call of Duty 5 and Call of Duty 4.

While COD 5 is being developed by Treyarch, COD4 was created by Infinity Ward and the two entirely separate teams have traditionally divided the franchise - with Infinity Ward creating the superior titles in the eyes of many fans and critics.

What's irked Infinity Ward lately though is that Treyarch has been comparing the its own World at War with Infinity Wards Call of Duty 4, and making some apparently bogus claims in the process. Speaking on his work blog, community manager Robert Bowling expressed his frustration with World at War senior producer Noah Heller directly.

"You didn’t work on previous Call of Dutys, so don’t talk as if you’re down with how / why things were designed the way they were. Second, you’re completely f*****g wrong." posted Rob.

"Can you guys please stop interviewing this guy, talk to someone who actually works on the Dev Team at Treyarch and knows what the f**k they’re talking about?" pleaded Rob after Noah made some bogus claims about weapon design in Call of Duty 4. "Not Senior Super Douche Noah Heller from Activision - who apparently has never played the game and doesn’t even work at the developer."

would make for hilarious shenanigans.

If every developer did we'd probably get better and maybe even less buggy games.

Maybe I should start reading more blogs again...

Your title is misleading if what's in the content is correct... He's in fact encouraging people to talk to Treyarch. Just not to the Super Douche :p
Quote Angleus 11th November 2008, 11:52
Haha what a crazy man, surely this isn't going to go down well with Activision?
Quote DaMightyMouse 11th November 2008, 12:04
fight ... fight ... FIGHT !!! :)

Well spoken to be honest. I am still undecided on COD5, but I am a little biased at the moment since I've spent a year loving COD4 but willing to give the game it's time - well....after I try and complete Fallout 3, C&C Red Alert 3 and FarCry 2 :(

That is how you know Rob is a real gamer. That is also why IWs games will always be far far better.

Hang on, from playing the Beta, I found that CoD5 is CoD4, with different models.

Surely people should be talking to the senior super douche, about his CoD4 Mod...
Quote Slepnyrl 11th November 2008, 14:04
Cod WAW is simply a huge total conversion mod of cod4... and personally, I like it a lot more then CoD4. Waw feels like a cross of CoD4 and America's Army and it's really enjoyable on hardcore/tactical realism servers. The larger maps are so much better!

Back to the topic: if you're going to interview someone, you should at least do a background check to see if they are actually qualified to discuss the subject...I mean Rob's right, why interview a corporate manager who doesn't even play the game?

WWII on the Warfare Engine = COD5. I got my copy yesterday and started the solo missions. So far it's action packed but doesn't flow the same as COD4.

For some reason i just can't stand WW2 games.. so my obvious choise is COD4, and i was realy disapointed afther i heard about WaW... oh well, there's always cod6 :)
Quote UrbanMarine 11th November 2008, 15:56
@GFC IW is working on COD6 so don't worry, you're thirst for modern warfare will be fulfilled.
Quote Lepermessiah 11th November 2008, 17:23
How old is this idiot? Not surprising considering how outdated the gameplay is in COD games, apparently not being professional is another trait of IW.

hahah thats an awesome blog
also treyarch CoD's dont exist in my universe, sorry

They are the same though... I played Call of Duty 4 for ages, and I am now on the beta of World at War and it is the same with new textures. The sprites for the Bomb sites etc are the same, even the dogs that you can call in are the same... any way that is just my 2 pence of ranting :P
Quote UrbanMarine 11th November 2008, 18:11
This is the first COD Treyarch didn't use their own engine.
Quote frontline 11th November 2008, 19:18
Tried the COD 5 multiplayer beta and was distinctly under-whelmed. Uses some of the ideas from COD 4, but the model animations seemed ropey and the sound very compressed (almost mono sounding). Might still buy it for the single player/co-op depending on the reviews.

I'd want that job just to be a douche to people. And it will be safe to assume that your the only one with a title like that in the world. Where do I apply?
Quote outlawaol 12th November 2008, 02:52
COD 5 dosnt appeal to me in the online play AT ALL. However the single player 'should' be interesting and worthwhile. Unfortunately, it does feel like a COD4 mod to the BF 1942 title...

*sigh*

I dont like hyped up games... they always disappoint *cough* crysis *cough*.... just have to watch the field and wait for that diamond in the rough....

:)
Quote Ghys 12th November 2008, 03:40
way to be professional

as 'cool' as it might be to see a game developer say "**** off" to some douche, it still makes him look stupid and childish

however , I still believe, like everybody else, that IW > T
