Duke Nukem Forever for 2008?

Can the Duke promise anything more than a flat-top and an attitude? We'll find out in late 2008. Maybe.

In a series of leaked emails between the Dallas Business Journal and 3D Realms' President Scott Miller, it has been confirmed that Duke Nukem Forever will have a late 2008 release date.

Yeah, I know. But giggling aside, this could be true - insider sources have been hinting at a 2008/2009 release for a while and a new trailer was released not long ago.

Speaking to the Dallas Business Journal, Miller was cagey about platforms.

"We haven't formally announced any platforms for DNF...But, of course hitting the big three makes the most sense (PC, PS3, 360)," said Scott.

Rumours of an Xbox Live Arcade port of the original Duke Nukem 3D are also looking strong and it has been confirmed that the port will feature online multiplayer, co-op and the usual array of leaderboards and achievements.

The Xbox Live Arcade port is expected sometime this year, but no release date specifically has been pinned down.

Does Duke still have the cojones to dominate the market or, when he does eventually arrive on the market will he find himself fresh out of bubblegum? Let us know what you think in the forums.

I'll be Duke3d so long as the port is good and the price is right though inevitably it will be 800 points, I'll complain about how over-priced it is, and then buy it anyway.

Hmmm...it'll be a bit like the last Rocky film, with a 60-year old Duke coming out of retirement to show those young whipper-snappers how it's done...

If it's fun, I don't care about it looking a little dated. Hopefully this is true, although I'm not gonna hold my breath. :)

I think it boils down to good gameplay or not at the moment, but nostalgia might have some effect on sales certainly

Nobody who really enjoyed playing DN3D would ever even think about not buying DNF. I'll get it. :)

Anyways, I wouldn't care about it too much right now as I'm almost out of the door to get drunk with at least 4 English girls. So I just can't be bothered really thinking about it. :D

This game might rival Prey's longer-than-a-decade "production" time.

you know what I no longer care when it comes out I will just live my life day by day and then when I see it on shelves then I will believe that its finally out lo.

I'd like to know what kind of idiot has allowed the production to be continously delayed, work scrapped, engines swapped etc. Wonder what the development costs will work out as...
Quote HourBeforeDawn 9th February 2008, 21:14
ya lo this might be the most expensive game released so far just in delay and changes alone.

Definitely

I remember watching it, it was embedded in an article which said they showed a really old trailer from it's first announcement and then said they'd update it with the new one when it was available. I remember watching the video and thinking the graphics looked really good for such an old video.

Then I scrolled down and realised the old trailer was below it.
