Crysis release date announced

Crysis will be available across North America and Europe on November 16th.

Crysis. November 16th.

Well, that's all you really need to know, isn't it?

In a press release sent out today, EA and Crytek have announced that the year’s most anticipated shooter, Crysis will see a release across North America and Europe on the 16th of November, 2007 and that the game will be a PC exclusive.

Console versions are rumoured to be in the works, but currently the only confirmed platform is PC. The game will be compatible with both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10, though specific hardware requirements have not been released yet.

The game itself tells the story of an alien attack on a small tropical island and players must take the role of Jake Dunn, a Delta Force soldier sent in to investigate the situation and battle the alien threat. The environments will be incredibly varied, incorporating the same jungle environments as seen in Far Cry, a frozen jungle landscape and a zero-gravity alien spaceship where players must overcome nausea and aliens alike.

The singleplayer game will be approximately ten hours long for an average player. The game will also come with three different multiplayer modes, supporting up to 32 players and some truly massive multiplayer maps.

So, mark the date in your diaries and be sure to set a fair bit of time aside. Crysis is coming.

What are you most looking forward to in Crysis, or is Bioshock more your kind of thing? Let us know in the forums.

Well that's sooner than I expected but I personally think I'll be playing Bioshock instead as I have it pre-ordered.

10 hours of gameplay? :|

It better be a good 10 hours.
Quote g3n3tiX 3rd August 2007, 11:41
10 hours if you don't count the time spent shooting at vegetation and enjoying eye candy !
Quote poenanie 3rd August 2007, 11:41
10 hours is if you just play the game straight trough , most people take about 30 hours according to crytek because there's a lot you can do in the game that keeps you busy while doing your objectives ..

November O.o danm, I thought they where looking at a September release :(

"The game will also come with three different multiplayer modes, supporting up to 32 players and some truly massive multiplayer maps."
Do we know what these modes are?
I would assume Death match, Team death match, and I would hope maybe Co-op?

So Valve release Half Life 2 on 16th November 2004, and now Crytek are releasing Crysis on the same day 3 years later.

That just so happens to be my birthday... another fantastic present to myself. Woo! ;)
Quote Particle Man 3rd August 2007, 12:20
Oh I'm gonna have fun with this one, hopfully I have my new system built by then.
Quote Paradigm Shifter 3rd August 2007, 12:30
Well, at least there is a solid release date now. Of course, until it's actually in shops, that can still change...
Quote namakan 3rd August 2007, 12:42
So pumped for Crysis!

The nov release date is perfect since it gives me enough time to build a badass system that will make the most of the game.

So hmmm 2 types of team death match and no co-op or even death match, I think thats fairly w**k tbh, was expecting more from the game :(
Quote CardJoe 3rd August 2007, 13:28
My mistake - it's not called Assault. It's called Power Struggle.

In "Power Struggle", all players start the game on one of two teams – the U.S. Delta Force or the North Korean Army – with nothing more than a pistol and a basic nano suit. After players have joined a team, they will fight to earn points. Points are used to purchase weapons, vehicles and manufacturing plants.[4] How one earns points will depend on what type and rank of player they have killed. For example, if a "Beginner" defeats a "General", then they will receive more points than if the General had killed the Beginner. Weapons may also be taken from the corpses of dead players from either team, and vehicles can be stolen from the opposing side with the use of lock picks.

Players can crossbreed vehicles with alien technologies if they bring the technology back to their base from one of several alien crash sites randomly generated on the map. Weapons can be bought from where players spawn or at certain control points located around the map. Should the player die, they will lose their guns and any vehicles that were destroyed or stolen from the player in the process.

Sounds cool enough to me.

Hmmm interesting, sounds a bit counter strikeish hehe.
What will be interesting to see then is if they impliment AI players/bots into multiplayer game modes.

At last a date for the calender. Does one take a holiday or a sicky to play the most anticipated game of the year with more eye candy than a copy of Playboy.......ok maybe not that much, but pretty close.:D

Only 10h singleplayer?

Ok, I'll get in from some bargain bin in a year, then it'll be worth the money.

Right, well that gives me a deadline for when my system upgrade needs to be done by!
Quote devdevil85 3rd August 2007, 16:33
Has anyone seen the map creator? yeah it's pretty sweet...sadly there's no way I'm gonna have a rig built by then...but it WILL be a game that I will probably get so that's something to look forward to....
Quote johnnyboy700 3rd August 2007, 16:48
I always take release dates with a pinch of salt but I'll stiil be putting my order in anyway.

I really like the look of Bioshock (PC Gamer just gave it five stars and a "Must Buy" badge) but Crysis is the one I'm really looking forward to.

Doesn't Bioshock come out at the end of August? Can't imagine that's going to take you 3 months to finish...

Quote pendragon 6th August 2007, 17:03
heh.. well, since my current hardware won't even play this game, won't mean much to me at the moment.. though if it could, I'd say I'm probably more interested in Project Offset being released than this [shrug]. Sure it will be fun blowing things up though :)
