World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade is released

World of Warcraft Burning Crusade is brilliant but we want a new Starcraft!

World of Warcraft fans worldwide rejoice, Burning Crusade has finally arrived! If you don't already know about the expansion we highly recommend you check out our preview and if you do know about the expansion, well then why aren't you giving your life up to it right now?

Alongside a new continent and two new races, players will now be able to reach the heady heights of Level 70. Blizzard is hoping that this incentive will encourage fans to buy into Burning Crusade as well as entice old players back into the fold. John LeCraft, senior designer for Blizzard, spoke to Gamespot:

"I can't imagine not buying the expansion if you're playing the game. I'm in a guild, where they don't know who I am, and everybody said yes, although one guy said he couldn't afford it. I told him it'd be worth skipping a few meals for. [laughs]

Seriously though, I do think it will help our numbers, because there are people who have taken a break, who'll come back and check Burning Crusade out."

The interview is certainly worth a read if you're considering making a purchase. What may be even more interesting is an interview over on Pro-G. Not only does it have no plans to make World of Warcraft available to consoles but there could also be a new Starcraft game on the horizon. Vice President of Business Development for Blizzard Entertainment, Itzik Ben Bassat, said:

"I'm a StarCraft player myself and I hope it's not a decade, and we launched StarCraft in 1998, before I'm standing here again, celebrating the next game in the series."

Exciting stuff on the Blizzard front then, which would you be more excited about, a new Starcraft or the Burning Crusade? Let us know in the forums.

I picked up mine this afternoon... some of my guildmembers/friends are already playing it today. Some of the words they said on our forum:
- "This is gonna be a lóóóóng weekend"
- "The world's design is even better then the best piece of land in WoW itself"
- "Here I was, minding my own business with harvesting plants, thinking, heck... I'm level 60, so no aggro for me! BOOM, smashed to bits by something huge and ugly Pretty exciting stuff to be 2-shotted by mobs ^^"

I can't wait to have it up and running :D

my copy won't arrive for a couple of days hopefully, seeing as i have exams until sat lol :'(

i stopped playing wow about 6 months ago as my guild wasn't making much progress in the end game content, and there wasn't much left to do apart from that. but now wow will consume my life again!

Some of the drops/ quest rewards are awsome! Just been shown some cloth trousers which are better specced than most of the epic kit available in the "old" version! Bring on the outlands!

My housemate told me this from the beta (his girlfriend got him a beta key :) ), so I gave up trying to get new kit for my level 60.

BTW, well done Bit-tech, you've at least briefly got onto the front page of Google News with this story.

Aye, have a crap load of honor points which were being saved for L60 kit. Guess they'll have to wait for L70 now!
