Eidos unveils new Mini Ninjas game

Mini Ninjas is hoping to appeal to both kids and adults alike with it's blend of frentic gameplay and cute characters.

Eidos has announced a new game and IP today, dubbed Mini Ninjas, which is due for a multiplatform release in Q3 this year. The game is coming to PC, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3 and DS. Sorry, PSP.

Mini NInjas is to be the start of a new franchise for Eidos and will be developed by IO Interactive, the same team behind the Hitman games, as well as the controversial Kane and Lynch.

Not a huge amount is known about the game at this point, but it looks set to be a radical departure for IO Interactive and will favour a family-friendly and colourful take on Ninjas, rather than the gritty and gory, crime-focused gameplay from which the developer has wrought it's fame.

The story of the game follows a young Ninja, Hiro, who sets off on a quest to banish all evil Ronin from the world and bring peace back to Japan. Along the way Hiro'll be doing plenty of fighting, brawling and caltropping, as well as using Kuji magic to turn enemies into...pandas, apparently.

While the game definitely looks to be aiming for a younger market, Eidos is hoping to appeal to adults too with a sly sense of humour and a wealth of ninjas.

We can expect more information about the game when it gets closer to release, but until then let us know what you think in the forums.

Frentic? Is that a cross between "frantic" and "frenetic"?

Speaking of which, whatever happened to the word "frantic"? It used to be commonplace until about 6 years ago when everyone started using the word "frenetic" instead.
