Manhunt 2 has been released with over 50 names axed from the credits sequence. Ha!
Manhunt 2. Ugh. I'll be honest and say I'm getting just a little bit sick of the game and I know
I'm not the only one. That's why I'm not going to recount the whole backstory again, I'm just going to link to an old article which has all the relevant links in it covering the problems the game has had with bans and the like.
So, if this is the first you've heard of the game and the ensuing debacle then click
here.
Now we're all on the same page, I can begin telling you about the latest problems in what is fast becoming a train-wreck of a game in many regards.
It seems that Rockstar has made some unintentional cuts to the game in the process of editing it to be suitable for release (in America anyway). The developers didn't just edit out some parts of the execution sequences, they also edited out large parts of the credits sequence so that dozens of developers who worked hard on the game are now not acknowledged.
You see, the game started development in Rockstar Vienna back in 2004 according to
Intelligent Artifice, before being moved to Rockstar London after the Vienna branch was shut down in May 2006. Over 50 Vienna developers are missing from the credits list.
Maybe they chose to not have their names attached to the game though? Given the content and reception that would hardly be very shocking, but what do you think? Let us know in
the forums.
At the rate the game was going with content having to be removed left right and center to conform to the bans, I thought that only the credits where going to be left.
Ah well, not that ill be playing this game, learnt my lesson the first time round, and come to the conclusion there are MANY other great games out there than this POS.
I think they should give up and ditch the game, or better yet, never started it, its bought toomuch attention to violent video games, and now games that I and many others are highly antisipating such as SoF3, could now be banned too, which it may not have done prior to this game of mindless violence.
QFT.
Where the complaints and refusals to broadcast when Saws 1 - 4 appeared? And when Hostel 1 & 2 came about? Nowhere! Seriously, how they be worried about a pixelated guy killing other pixelated guys on a monitor when there are close ups of peoples eyes being blowtorched on cinema screens?
I don't think it is quite the same comparing a video game to a movie. Movies are a very passive entertainment, there is no interaction with it whereas video games you are actively deciding to kill someone in the game with increasingly realistic graphics. I am all for violence in video games and I think a lot of the responsibility is with the parents. I just don't think you can compare movies to video games.
As for the credits being axed ... who actually reads the credits?
