Microsoft has stated that an SP1 beta "will be made available sometime this year."

Microsoft has revealed that there will be no public beta for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 this month like many were hoping.

Instead, the company has acknowledged that there will be a service pack and that its current expectation is that “a beta will be made available sometime this year.”

The rumoured beta that was scheduled for release this month is an early build that is apparently only being made available to only a select group of beta testers.

There is currently no timeframe for availability of either the public beta or final version of the service pack but most indications seem to point to something happening in November.

It’s not clear whether that is a public beta or a final release at the moment though as earlier rumours suggested that SP1 will be released early in 2008.

If that is the case, it could be bad news for Microsoft, as many companies are waiting for the first service pack before they start to roll out Vista across their IT networks.

I would rather them to get a quality SP ASAP, Vista (imho) really could do with it.
