Mod of the Month - January 2010

Prime by Sleepstreamer

Project Log: Here

Here's another serial modder and with projects such as HTPC and Rampage under his belt, this latest scratch build which appeared in November called Prime is sure to be another classic for 2010.

Prime will also be the largest case Sleepstreamer has made and it already seems to be a strange merging of several of his previous mods into one giant, industrial looking aluminium case.

The angles and clean looks that are already taking shape Prime now has a huge following on our forum and rightly so. What's even more interesting is that he says the case will be able to house 'two PSUs and up to 18 3.5in drives'. What kind of monster is he planning!?

Early renders didn't reveal much except for the complicated interior and rectangular shape of Prime. However it didn't take long for the materials to arrive and for some modding action to begin. First off was the careful hacking up of a large piece of aluminium.

This was first fashioned to make the grilled front fascia of the case with several other mid section pieces coming into the fray as well. It wasn't long before the case took shape and we got our first glimpses of Prime and its scary amount of 3.5in bays.

Above are some of the fantastic angles and joins we were talking about earlier. Geometry seems to be a popular theme this month and there are definite hints of his previous Rampage build here, only better!

Finally we last looked at Sleepstreamers project log when the case was looking even more filled out and menacing. Yet another project to add to your watch list and we doubt we've seen the last of Prime.

That's it for this month! Be sure to head over to the forums to vote for your favourite mod.
