Bit-tech Mod of the Year 2015 - The Winners

Nearly 3,000 votes were cast across 24 different and amazing projects from 2015 and today we're announcing the winners of bit-tech's Mod of the Year competition.

If you missed the original article, you can view it again here - or maybe you just need to remind yourself of what an amazing year it was for modding too.

Our community voted for their favourite projects in two categories - mods and scratchbuilds. The winner of each category is voted by you as the project gaining the most amount of votes, and each netting £250 of Corsair gear of their choice. The final award - Mod of the year, is the best overall project as voted for by our panel of judges, who picked from a selection of the most voted-for projects, and gets the top prize of £500-worth of Corsair gear of their choice.

We'd like to thank Mnpctech's Bill Owen and veteran modder Jeremy Birch (E.E.L. Ambiense) for joining the bit-tech team to make up our panel of judges.

They have nominated their favourites in a score-based system and the project with the most amount of votes was crowned the winner of Mod of the Year 2015. Our thanks again to Corsair for stumping up the prizes.

Mod of the Year 2015

We had some concerns when Alain chose to enter his Deepcool Tristellar case mod instead of the fantastic Purpura, both of which were nominated. However, we need not have worried as both our voters and panel of judges agreed that Tristellar Whetstone was fantastic - who'd have thought a unique, bizarre and very expensive mini-ITX case would be sitting at the top of the podium this year?

Best Case Mod (runner up)

There's clearly some very talented modders based in Russia at the moment that team up to create some incredible projects. BootSector was behind the design of last year's winning project - Streamliner, built by aio, but Felix: Old Soviet computer is all his own work and was a favourite of many who have visited his project log. It's a fantastic-looking PC and we hope to see more from aio and BootSector this year.

Best Scratchbuild

Just managing to clinch the top scratchbuild spot ahead of Rinzler by FAT and Man of Steel by MegaSkot and a project that has seen many desks damaged by the dropping jaws of water cooling enthusiasts out there, L3pipe by none other than previous Mod of the Year winner and nominee l3p is a fitting tribute to Peter's efforts in promoting modding and watercooling. It also shows that he's more than just a desk PC guy (although UV green is still something he likes to use in most of his projects!).

Well done not just to our three winners, but to all participants that were nominated - it's the taking part and improving our skills that counts so our congratulations go out to everyone that managed to complete a project in 2015 too. We'll be back later this year with another Mod of the Year feature, but have plenty of modding content planned for 2016 too. Thanks for all the modding!
