bit-tech Mod of the Year 2016 in Association with Corsair

We know we say this every year, but 2016 has been a stunning time for PC modding. Yet again, we've seen new techniques being used, new modders come into the scene, and hundreds of fantastic projects from all over the world.

We have some absolute crackers for you to look at this year in our annual roundup of the best case mods and scratch builds that have been on the go in our forum since last year's Mod of the Year competition. We've got wooden PCs, water-cooled desks, the best cable braiding and super-clean builds on the Internet, some weird and wacky projects, as well as a generous helping of jaw-dropping builds that we'd all love to own.

As usual, we've asked you nominate your favourite projects, so thanks to everyone that sent us their lists - it helps to make the competition as fair as possible. Of course, we added some of our own favourites too, especially one or two that had slipped through the net, but the vast majority of nominated projects were done so by our community.

From there, it's the same as last year. We have two categories: case mods, which are modified off-the-shelf cases, and scratch builds i.e. cases that have been made completely from the ground up. We have 12 projects in each category, and we now need you to vote for your favourites at the end of this article in the poll. We've included images, project log links, and videos where available of the projects so you can delve a little deeper if you want to.

There are several prizes up for grabs this year, and we'll start with the one that anyone can win. Corsair is offering triple packs of its fantastic SP120 RGB fans to three lucky readers. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is vote! There are three packs to give away and they're worth £40 each.

Corsair is also offering our main prizes again this year, with £1,000 up for grabs for three modders. The best mod and best scratch build as voted for by you will each receive their choice of £250 of Corsair gear. We then have our Mod of the Year crown to give to the very best project of 2016, which will net the winner their choice of £500 of Corsair gear. This will be chosen by a panel of judges from a group of five projects, which will be the top five projects from the voting. We'll announce the winners of all these prizes in January. A huge thanks to Corsair for sponsoring all our modding content and don't forget to vote for your favourites to be in with a chance of winning prizes.
