Intel Conroe Performance Preview PCMark05 Detailed CPU Scores - 1
The Core 2 Duo E6700 is 23% faster in the single threaded test, but the lead falls to 20% when the test is multi-tasked with another one of PCMark's CPU tests.

The Conroe chip has another strong showing in the single threaded test, finishing up 16% faster than the Pentium XE 965. However, the performance drop from running the operation as a single thread to multi-tasking it with another operation is greater than that of Intel's current flagship CPU. Performance on the Conroe is cut in half, while the Presler only suffers a 75% performance drop. The Presler is the better multi-tasker in this particular scenario.

When it comes to File Encryption, the Presler core comes out on top by over 18% in the single threaded test – that's quite impressive, with all things considered. When the test was multi-tasked with another test, the Presler's performance actually increased consistently over three separate benchmark runs. Meanwhile, Conroe's file encryption performance dropped when it was multi-tasked with another test, meaning that the Pentium Extreme Edition 965 increased its performance advantage.
