NZXT has officially launched a follow-up to its 2012 RGB lighting controller, Hue, imaginitively dubbed Hue+ and supporting up to 80 LEDs.

Like its predecessor, NZXT's Hue+ is designed as a purely aesthetic addition to a PC. Offering control over RGB LED lighting strips, the sleek black box features dual-channel output each supporting up to 40 LEDs, with four 300mm strips of ten included in the box. An increased number of supported LEDs isn't the only change, though, and the biggest shift will be welcomed by those building more compact creations: the controller is now designed to fit inside a 2.5" drive bay, rather than the original's 5.25", and is controlled via software rather than through physical knobs.

When installed and connected to NZXT's CAM software, the controller has a set of pre-set animation patterns: static lights, fading lights, breathing, marquee, covering marquee, alternating, pulse, and spectrum wave. Using the system's own sensors, the software can also vary the LEDs depending on CPU or GPU temperature or the framerate of a running game. Naturally, users can also customise their own patterns - and there's the option, currently in beta form, to have the lights react to the PC's audio output.

The Hue+ controller connects to a four-pin Molex connector and internal USB header, and has four outputs across its two channels. Two 500mm connection cables are included in the box, along with two 100mm extension cables, one each of 300mm and 500mm extension cables, screws, and cable ties. A two-year warranty is included as standard.

NZXT has confirmed the Hue+'s retail price as £39.99, a premium over the original Hue, with more information available on the official product page.
