God of War PSP mod charity auction

The God of War PSP Mod, above, is available on eBay now and a 15 percent of the profits will go to charity.

Handhelds seem to be the new scene for modders with morals and in the past few months we've seen a fair few of rather stunning handheld consoles go up for charitable auction, as well as some spiffy, signed variants.

Still, even we have to admit that the new God of War themed PSP mod is by far the best we've seen so far and, even better, a portion of the profits (15 percent) will be donated to the Child's Play charity. Child's Play was founded by the folks over at Penny Arcade and serves to collect gaming systems for hospitals and children's wards across the globe.

After all, there's nothing quite like a dose of Barbie's Super-Fun Adventure Pony Fashion Week to make you want to get better and get out of the hospital.

According to PSPFanboy, "The PSP console itself was airbrushed with a deep metallic bronze in an 18-step process and then strategically tarnished to create a battle-worn armor look (like the chest plate worn in the game!)."

However, that's not all - the mod also uses a red acrylic window on the back so that gamers can watch the UMD be read and a couple of red LEDs light up the shoulder buttons.

The PSP also comes with an attractive, red velvet-lined case to store it in. All in all, a rather gorgeous contribution to the world of handheld modding.

If you want to stand a chance at placing the winning bid though then you'd better be quick off the mark - the auction ends on the 29th of July (the same day as out The Darkness competition) and the highest bid so far puts the price at $1,225, which is kind of steep.

Ever modded a console, even in a lame way? Is the extent of your modding ability to make a NES belt buckle? Let us know in the forums or comment below.

You know you want to. After all, it's for charity :)

Sony is a charity? ;)

The money goes to Child's Play not Sony.

Anything which sells a PSP means Sony get more money by promotion.

Why does God of War use the Omega?
Quote DougEdey 25th July 2007, 17:26
It's the last letter of the greek alphabet, I used it in a sig years ago, basically Alpha represented the start (birth) and omega represented the end (death)
Quote Jamie 25th July 2007, 17:39
I am the alpha and you are the omega.

15% to charity, nice way for suckers to give free promotion to his auction and raise him oodles of cash ;).

It's a nice mod, but I completely disagree with the auction and advertising of.
