Case-maker Lian Li has announced its latest entry for the O-series open-air chassis range: the dual-compartment tempered-glass PC-O9.

First teased for CeBIT 2016, the PC-O9 is an eye-catching two-tone case: the right-hand side of the case is made from Lian Li's usual aluminium panels, while the left opts for two large tempered glass panels designed to showcase internal components. According to the company, the design - which it somewhat unflatteringly describes as 'like two different cases fused together as conjoined twins' in its press release - is not merely for aesthetic purposes but provides enhanced cooling and organisation.

Lian Li provides five 120mm fans in the PC-O9 - two exhaust fans located behind the drive cage and three intake fans mounted between the two compartments. Three additional 120mm fan mounts are included in the top panel from the glass side of the case, with the company seeing it as perfect for the installation of a 360mm x 120mm radiator. A radiator can also be hidden in the aluminium side of the case, replacing the three intake fans, with rubber grommets provided suitable for passing tubing through to the components in the glass side.

The somewhat chunky case has plenty of room for expansion, too: ATX power supplies up to 290mm in length and six 3.5" plus two 2.5" drives can be hidden in the aluminium section, while the glass area supports graphics cards up to 420mm in length dropping to 290mm if a thick radiator is installed on the front fan mounts plus tower coolers up to 160mm tall. The case also includes a bundled RGB lighting kit with pre-installed controller.

UK availability and pricing for the PC-O9 have yet to be confirmed, with Lian Li announcing a mid-June US launch priced at $439 (around £304 excluding taxes) for the PC-O9WX black-finish and WC-O9WRX red-highlighted finish models.
