Asus has announced four new X99 motherboards for LGA2011-v3.

With Broadwell-E supposedly just around the corner, replacing Haswell-E and the likes of the Core i7-5960X, Asus is already gearing up for a major board refresh.

Its quad line-up includes a revamped old favourite - the X99 Deluxe, now called the X99 Deluxe-II, which is partnered with two other mainstream Signature boards - the X99-A II and X99-E.

Asus' X99 line-up was missing a little extreme pizazz at Haswell-E-s launch a couple of years ago, but if you prefer the gaming/overclocking style boards, then the new ROG Strix X99 Gaming could be for you.

The ROG Strix X99 Gaming is the first board in the series, and sports built-in RGB LEDs and its decals can be customised with a range of colours included in the box.

The boards feature a huge list of features including Asus' Aura RGB LED compatibility, new Fan Xpert 4 software with the ability to detect PWM/DC fans on all headers, use high-amperage fans and control water-cooling pumps.

As we've seen with the evolution of Z170 boards, the new line-up sports plenty of next-gen storage options, with some models including dual U.2 and M.2 ports as well as Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and C ports and 3x3 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
