Oculus VR has revealed US pricing for its licensed Oculus Ready Rift-PC bundles, which include the full Oculus Rift retail hardware plus a PC capable of meeting the system's minimum specifications, ahead of pre-orders opening later this month.

Oculus VR, now a Facebook subsidiary, caught the public's attention with a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign for a virtual reality headset dubbed the Oculus Rift. While the hardware that resulted was aimed solely at developers and hackers who don't mind a technical challenge, the version which is due to launch in the near future is aimed at end-users - and those end-users are being given the option of buying everything in a single bundle, including the gaming PC required to use the hardware.

Dubbed Oculus Ready, the company's licensing programme has been taken up by Asus, Dell, and Dell's gaming subsidiary Alienware, all of whom plan to launch Oculus Ready systems. Each machine can either be purchased on its own or as a Rift Bundle package which will include the full Oculus Rift retail bundle - headset, sensor, remote, Xbox One controller, and copies of EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale. All include specifications capable of meeting Oculus VR's official minimum requirements for the Rift, with higher-priced models boasting of improved specifications.

Pricing for the Oculus Ready hardware begins at $949 for the Asus G11CD - a price which was initially indicated to include the Rift Bundle accessories, but was sadly later corrected to indicate the price is for the PC alone and exclusively available to those who have already pre-ordered Oculus Rift headsets - rising to $2,549 for the top-end Alienware Area 51. Those looking to get a head-start on VR gaming, though, will be interested in the pre-order bundles which open on the 16th of February at a minimum of $1,499. Those who have already pre-ordered the Oculus Rift retail package will, the company has indicated, be offered a discount on purchasing a standalone Oculus Ready PC.
