AMD has confirmed the departure of three high-level executives, as a restructuring plan put in place by new chief executive Lisa Su takes effect.

Dr. Lisa Su took over from incumbent chief executive Rory Read at AMD back in October last year, relinquishing her role as chief operating officer. Just over a week later, Su announced a major restructuring exercise which would see the company cut around seven per cent of its global workforce to stem continued losses.

Now, some of the high-level victims of that reorganisation have been named. In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, AMD's finance team warned that three executives are departing: John Bryne, general manager of the Computing and Graphics division; Colette LaForce, chief marketing officer; and Raj Naik, chief strategy officer.

The company has not announced plans to immediately replace any of the three, with Su taking over Bryne's position in addition to her duties as chief executive and senior vice president Harry Wolin standing in for both LaForce and Naik. 'These changes, including the additions of Forrest Norrod and James Clifford to our management team last quarter, collectively are part of implementing an optimal organisation design and leadership team,' an AMD spokesperson explained in a statement, 'to further sharpen our execution and position AMD for growth.'

AMD has been struggling in recent years, in particular with growing losses in Bryne's Computing and Graphics division. Its fortunes are slowly turning, however, with recent reports of small profits - undoubtedly helped by the recent launch of its semi-custom processor division, which enjoyed design wins in both Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4 consoles.
