MSI's Z87i was a new arrival we look forward to getting our hands on

MSI kicked off Computex today with its opening press conference, but there were few surprises with a major focus on its new lines of Z87 LGA1150 motherboards, Haswell laptops and Nvidia’s new GTX 770 2GB Graphics Card.

MSI’s Haswell range of motherboards might already be on retailer shelves, but its flagship Z87-GD65 still drew attention, as did the accompanying Z87 range. We also spied an intriguing Mini-ITX board dubbed Z87i alongside the new M-Power and M-Power Max high-end boards.

MSI also announced its first Haswell gaming notebook, the GS70, which will pair an Intel Core i7 CPU with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 765M mobile GPU in a super-sleek chassis that rivals that of Razer’s Blade gaming notebook. It certainly looks a more appealing gaming laptop than the raft of Clevo chassis alternatives currently available

The new GS70 Haswell powered gaming notebook as well as the already released MSI Z87 GD65 also made an appearance

Also unveiled was an external motherboard overclocking controller. Looking more like an extra PCB than a finished unit, the controller extends features such as boot LED, power, reset and frequency increase controls outside the case, although there was no word on availability or whether MSI would bundle this with its high-end boards.

Plenty of MSI's focus was on its dual-fan equipped GTX 770 cards.

Rounding out the conference was MSI’s pair of custom GTX 770 2GBs, the Lightning and Gaming, both of which make use of an updated version of the Twin Frozr cooler and now boast a pair of 100mm cooling fans to replace the stock GTX 770 cooler.

Stay tuned throughout the week for more news and product unveils from Computex 2013.
