SilverStone releases Air Penetrator fan for your desk

SilverStone's Air Penetrator fans have already impressed us in cases such as the FT02.

SilverStone has just released a desk version of its Air Penetrator fan. Essentially a USB-powered version of its AP121 case fan, the AP121-USB features the same air-channelling grille, which projects its airflow far more effectively than other fans.

According to SilverStone, the fan's overlapping blade design will also increase air pressure, allowing for straighter airflow as well as quiet action.

We haven't got round to fully testing the case version of the Air Penetrator fan yet. However, we have reviewed several cases equipped with them, such as SilverStone's TJ11, all of which have performed admirably.

Of course, you're not expected to screw the AP121-USB fan to your desk or monitor. Instead, the AP121-USB is equipped with a lightweight adjustable stand.

Can it play c......... I meant how much does it retail? I use an antec big boi to cool my sweaty bear paw in these warm months, no reason why this shouldn't.

Aside from keeping it in a narrow column, how much air flow are we talking here? I'm thinking late night mouse-hand cooling during STF's (or raids if you're weird) where I'd want something quiet so not to wake the neighbours.

man alive Silver, you better hope you've not got anyone like me around that desk, I compulively try and stop the fan blades with my finger, and I'd have nothing left of my hand with that thing!

More on topic, the desktop Air Penetrator looks pretty good actually. Would help on those hot nights gaming. My pc belches out loads of heat on hot nights since I got crossfire..like wow lol. It takes me back to my pentium 4 days, man those things got hot!

My face doesn't really get hot when gaming but my hands do, might help stop them becoming so sweaty after long sessions.

Chuck it into Custom Kit some time please, then at least we'll get an approximate street price. Or it'll make a nice boxout in the next labs test for case fans.

No, no you're not. While I use AP fans in my case, and I know they're good, Silverstone's design here does indeed look like tat. Shame, as I'd have had one if it looked better.
