Thermaltake's gaming keyboard needs more fans

Thermaltake's gaming keyboard is fan-modded to keep your sweaty paws cool during long gaming sessions.

Computex 2010: Thermaltake's Challenger Pro is a new gaming keyboard the company will be selling under its TT-esports brand, and yes, it features a fan to keep your left hand cool while you game. It's the most fantastic tacked-on ghetto mod we've probably ever seen from a serious product, so we have to give it kudos.

It also includes 10 macro keys and "obsessional" backlit keys. Yes "obsessional" and no, I don't know either.

Fan and crazed lights aside, the actual design is perfectly fine - it looks like any other angular gaming keyboard and the plastic construction was pretty decent too.

Keyboard fan-modding - it's the future! Show us all your mods so we can all enjoy their breezy goodness, in the forums.

erm... Who else thinks that the money would be better spent on a mechanical contact style keyboard?

This just seems like extra noise for the 4% of gamers that game 50+hrs a week.

That looks really nice IMO.

I'd paint over the Tt at the bottom though, it looks a bit ugly. :p

Your hand isn't going to attached to a keyboard the same way it would be attached to a mouse. My hands don't get sweaty at all. The palm of my mouse hand does sometimes.

fan needs to blow up from underneath, imo, as its your palm/underside of fingers that typicaly get sweaty or hot, if you have that issue
stonedsurd 3rd June 2010, 05:57 Quote
It would make more sense if it had large, slim fans blowing air through the keyboard from below. That little feller on top just looks ugly and helps only the left hand.

Uh... the thing is wireless?? Seriously, they have made a so called special gaming board without a wire?

And, what is the little knob on the top right? The color scheme is ok... I think.

"Obsessional Backlight" ????

Wah, it looks nice. But this seems a case of what can they stick on it thats different and makes it stand out! A fan, is a decent enough idea, however it definitely looks like an after thought.

Now a fan that blows up through the keys, now that would be something. But we can dream right?
ParaHelix.org 3rd June 2010, 09:59 Quote
I agree that a fan that blows up through the gaps in between the keys would be a good idea, but even then I am thinking to myself "if I'm sweaty over tapping keys maybe I should take a break for an hour or so". The fan on this keyboard looks like something that has been blue-tacked on last minute, and personally if I were given this keyboard I would snap it off.

This is the kind of thing Thermaltake have become known for, tacky useless ideas. Plus I would'nt bet on the build quality being up to much, just like all their products known to man!

Has anyone patented a "Hovermouse"? No friction AND optional in-hand cooling! :D

To be fair my hand does get quite sweaty whilst doing some heavy sessions :o

I love that somone has actually put Macro keys on both sides, i literally use every key on my Sidewinder X4 when it comes to MMO's.

A perfect product to accompany your Level 10!

I'm gonna invent palm anti perspirant and steal their target market... sure this keyboard will dry away the moisture but will it get rid of that unsavory sweaty palm smell? no! That's why you need my anti palm perspirent, which stops moisture from forming and hides unsavory smells, specially designed for hardcore gamers and chronic arse scratchers. See, I've already usurped their market and exapanded on it. Now to obliterate- what if you're both a hardcore gamer and a chronic arse scratcher, this keyboard is the last thing you want....

Looks like a 'professional' proofreader turned professional into obsessional.

Crazy and ugly fan design idea, surely this is only necessary if you are thinking about overclocking your hand?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
You may as well open the window.

Fine for those that game using WASD (defaults) but I always re-map my controls to the arrow keys. Not that I think it's a great idea.... my 6 year old daughter could have modded a keyboard and got better results.

I'm glad i'm not the only person who does that ;)

i generally remap to the arrow kews and set functions to the keys surrounding it, it's quite nice having the gap between them imho :)

Forget fans, how about watercooling? For those serious gamers.

Wear gloves.

Pour water into gloves.

Game.

But what if my opponent is not using passive watercooling but has a pump and rad for his had cooling. Then he could not only out micro and jack off more than me but possibly beat me!...
Akuman 5th June 2010, 07:09 Quote
I heard that the hand overclocking championships were on the way.

Limbs will be frozen off.

That being said...is the idea that far off?

Peregrine Hand Device

DUM DUM DUM!

Reminds me of a lycosa except with extras.
1ad7 5th June 2010, 10:14 Quote
all you can really say is LOL.

Now if they put a fan in the keyboard and had air vents under the wasd keys? thatd be pretty sweet. Thermaltake you can have that idea for free...
