Microsoft and Sony are both great companies with semi-excellent consoles, but realistically they both have to be just a little bit envious of Nintendo, we think. The whole motion sensitive thing has been a real hit and Nintendo is definitely leading the market right now thanks to a boost from the Wii Fit balance board.

Microsoft though is a canny little console-maker, and is fighting back by giving Qmotions an official license to make wireless peripherals for the Xbox 360. Wireless skateboard peripherals.

According to Engadget, the controller in question will be called the Qmotion Big Air and will be compatible with most boarding games currently on the market - i.e. Tony Hawk and Amped, we think.

And, as an added bonus, the Big Air also has the ability to double exactly how rowdy you are. Gnarly!

There's currently no word on release dates, or even a full list of compatible games for that matter, but Microsoft is famously hesitant to give out official licenses, so the Big Air must have impressed someone enough to make it worth a peek.

Is Microsoft actually trying to do something new with Qmotions, or is this just a blatant rip off of the Wii Fit balance board? Let us know what you think in the forums.
