XFX to release nForce 680i SLI LT mobo

XFX will release an nForce 680i SLI LT mobo soon.

XFX was showing off an unreleased nForce 680i SLI LT motherboard on its stand today.

The product was scheduled for launch on the opening day of CeBIT, but it was put back at the last minute. Due to the nature of pre-launch embargos, we can't really give any details on the chipset.

However, we can show you pictures of the board XFX will be selling.

Based on the fact that it has a lot of similarities to Nvidia's nForce 680i SLI reference board (as sold by BFGTech, EVGA and Inno3D amongst others), it's fair to assume that the board is built by Nvidia and a number of partners will sell it.

Also, the layout shows that the board has some of the nForce 680i SLI features cut out, but that's about as much as we can disclose at this time. We'll leave you with a bigger picture of the board and we'll fill you in on the details with a full review later this month. Stay tuned!

Not all that interesting to look at, no heatpies or a color scheme. I guess we are used to much more extravagant motherboards these days. I wonder, if you got a PCI-E 16x slot and soldered it to the board, do you think it could work?
Looks like everyones dipping into every category these days.

It's quite sad to say this, but it looks ugly.

If so many new companies are going to be releasing motherboards, they are going have to stand out from current market leaders like Asus...

There are two XFX boards, and both are on www.scan.co.uk
The upper model is around £290 from what i remember.

That wouldn't sway me...

I spent a while looking at the pics and wondering what's wrong... Then I understood that I'm watching at the ugliest mobo since the early days of Socket A or so. That wouldn't scare me alone, but damn there's not one but two fans! I really, really hope that's just a prototype and the real deal will look nicer and have less fans.

It's always interesting to see manufacturers jumping into other areas, tho.

Wow. It's just like any number of reference 680i boards, just without the second gigabit ethernet connector. XFX, you've really outunderdone yourself this time. Then again, I suppose that is the nVidia Way (tm). Forget original design! Just put your stickers on our stuff!

amm.... dudes... thats just plain ugly. but i guess its just a prototype or smth, maybe they will work on aesthetics before they go into mass production

wow, thats limited on the upgrade paths 2xpci-e x16 and 2x pci they could at least put a pciex1 where the third pciex16 would go

erm, by the time you have put a gfx card into the "lower" slot, thats a SINGLE PCI slot you can use...

Im gunna wait till pricing comes out for this, and what they have cut out the chipset too (i bet SLi memory support has gone).

true, i believe is a bad idea for XFX, its gonna be a flop and people are gonna be hesitant to buy there next motherboad (if they try after this )

It's not a prototype, that's the final retail NVIDIA reference design.

You can't solder in an extra PCIe slot.

When the NDA is up, you'll read my full review. :)

weird... the board looks very 90's to me, with the green pcb and fans and messy layout. At first glance i really did saw a isa slot.. ;)
