AMD releases Catalyst 7.1 for Vista

AMD has released its first official WHQL certified display drivers for Windows Vista.

Catalyst 7.1 includes a whole host of new features and a massively improved Catalyst Control Center.

The new features include:
  • Blu-ray and HD DVD support;
  • CrossFire support;
  • Native OpenGL support;
  • Catalyst Install Manager;
  • New Catalyst Control Center.
The speed of Catalyst Control Center is massively improved with both start up time and overall responsiveness enhancements. It's also not so much of a system resource hog, either.

If you're an ATI graphics card owner that is in the process of upgrading to Vista, you definitely don't want to miss them. You can download the drivers from ATI's support page.

We're expecting NVIDIA's first official Forceware 100-series Vista drivers to tip up sometime today - we'll let you know when they do.

Meanwhile, you can discuss ATI's driver developments in the forums.

Is there any reason to have a Vista driver when ATI does not have a directX 10 card as of yet?
