Sapphire offers Dave Orton Uber Edition graphics cards

Ruby thinks Dave Orton rocks.

Sapphire has produced a limited run of graphics cards that come in a James Bond-style case and are signed by the 'Last CEO' of ATI, Dave Orton.

The cards are a matched pair of X1950 XTX cards, for use in CrossFire. They come with a certificate which is signed by Orton, as a commemoration of the ATI/AMD deal.

Tagged the 'Uber Edition', the cards are overclocked up to 670MHz core and 2100MHz memory, up from the stock speeds of 650/2000MHz.

Also in the package is a gaming mousepad and a copy of Rainbow 6: Vegas.

The package is a limited edition of 60 units, and is only available from Ebuyer for the sum total of £550.

Our own TechEd Tim Smalley is really jonesing after these cards. Although he pointed out that you might not put these in your system - in many cases, an 8800 GTX will outperform them and come in cheaper - they are, in his words, "Perfect for sticking on the wall in a frame. Man, these are a collector's item. Sweet."

If you fancy a pair, go and take a look - then let us know what you think of the deal over in the forums.

WOW, what a nice touch, looks like ATI are finished, in a manner of speach, we should now refer Radeon gfx cards as AMD :D

Sam

PS, nVidia for the win :D

IIRC, your 8800 benchmarks were against a single XTX, not against a crossfire set...

(Red faction for the win!)

I could see tim's place, misc rare and old hardware framed and hung on the walls. :D

But it would be cool to have these.
