Newegg has a new product page up, showcasing the availability of X1800 XL cards and X850 CrossFire cards.

The X1800 XL is available for $479. The CrossFire edition X850 is at a price sure to see it fly off the shelves - $449. Not.

We have suggested previously that CrossFire with X800 technology would not be a cost efficient proposition, and this rather seems to confirm it.

However, it's good to see the XL available. Even better is the availability of the DFI CrossFire motherboard, which we are expecting great things from. We have one at the moment that we are working on, and it looks like a great performer. That board kicks in at $239.

The only problem for ATI, from a Newegg point of view, is that they stock an Albatron-branded reference 7800 GT for $110 cheaper than the X1800 XL. Initial reviews seem to indicate that performance is close, and so it's difficult to justify the XL at the moment. However, we have no doubt that prices will be falling into line shortly.

Are you going to be picking up a X1800 now they're available? Are you waiting for prices to drop, or are you looking for XT availability? Let us know your thoughts over in the forum.
