ATI have announced that its Radeon Xpress 200M chipset for AMD platforms will be integrated into two new lines of full-featured multimedia consumer notebook PCs from HP - the HP Pavilion zv6000 series and the Compaq Presario R4000 series.

The Radeon Xpress 200M platform is based around the first DirectX 9.0-capable integrated graphics chipset, the Radeon Xpress 200G. We reviewed EQS’ M56K9-MLF motherboard, which is based on the Radeon Xpress 200G chipset a couple of weeks back, and found it to be a fairly solid performer.

The gaming performance using the integrated graphics chipset was not a Radeon X800 XL killer, but it is the fastest integrated solution around at the moment.

The chipset makes use of ATI’s HyperMemory technology, which uses a combination of local and system memory to deliver a good integrated graphics gaming performance. The HP and Compaq notebooks are the first to incorporate HyperMemory technology in to their mobile solutions – it proves to be exciting times for ATI in the mobile industry, where they hold over 70% of the mobile graphics market.

The HP Pavilion zv6000 series and Compaq Presario R4000 series notebooks support AMD Athlon 64 and Sempron processors and feature a 15.4-inch widescreen display, built-in stereo speakers, 4 USB 2.0 ports, and an S-Video (TV-Out) port.

The higher-end models will also include an integrated 6-in-1 card reader and an ExpressCard 54/34 card slot for next-generation PCMCIA expansion cards.
