The developers of Shadow of the Eternals, spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness and the subject of two failed Kickstarter campaigns, have declared they will continue to pursue other options in funding their games.

Precursor Games' second Kickstarter campaign which aimed to raise $750,000 for the survival horror title drew to a close over the weekend after having raised only $323,950 from 5,932 backers.

Its initial crowd funding campaign aimed to raise $1.5m before the scope of the project was reduced from an episodic series to a standalone title.

Shadow of the Eternals itself has not been specifically mentioned by the studio as part of its plan for the future and Precursor has previously stated that the game was unlikely to see a release if the Kickstarter campaign failed. The developer however remains seemingly undeterred from its crowd-funding misadventure.

'It is unfortunate that we were unable to crowd-fund this project at this time, but we have not given up. We intend to pursue other avenues with the ultimate goal of having our games come to fruition,' said a Precursor spokesperson.

Precursor includes many former Silicon Knights staffers including the former studio head Denis Dyack. Shadow of the Eternals' first Kickstarter campaign was cut short by the developer because of controversy surrounding Dyack's involvement.
