After rumours of a delay for the greatly anticipated PS4 and PC game No Man’s Sky were reported by Kotaku, it’s been confirmed that the release of No Man’s Sky has been pushed back to August 9 in North America and August 10 in Europe (with the exception of the UK, which will be getting the game on August 12).

In a post on the official Playstation Blog, Sean Murray of Hello Games, the developers behind No Man’s Sky, confirmed that 'some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards'. It’s not been an easy time for him - he claims it's a 'tough choice' and says that this game has been 'the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life'. We don’t doubt it - unfortunately, The Simpsons isn’t factually accurate and worlds don’t just get made by putting a tooth in a fizzy drink.

Sean took the opportunity in the post to thank the fans of No Man’s Sky, offering a 'sincere apology' for the delay. Official pages such as the website for the game and the Steam store page are currently being updated to reflect the new release date.

Sean took to Twitter to respond to people’s reactions of the news, of which there were all kinds of extremes including, for some reason, death threats. Some people need to get some perspective, perhaps.
