Final Fantasy 14 heading to Playstation 4

Players of the Playstation 3 version will be entitled to a free upgrade to the Playstation 4 version.

MMO Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be heading to the Playstation 4 in April next year.

The next generation console version of the title was announced during E3 this year and Square Enix confirmed that players of the Playstation 3 version will be entitled to the Playstation 4 version for free and that they will be able to transfer characters across.

The beta for the Playstation 4 version will start on February 22, which is also the same day that the Playstation 4 launches in Japan.

When A Realm Reborn was announced, the game’s director also revealed that the title won’t be coming to the Xbox 360 or Xbox One as Microsoft would not allow the cross platform play that the developers were building into the game.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn launched in August this year and has performed beyond publisher Square Enix’s expectations, pulling in approximately 1.5 million players.

A Realm Reborn is an overhaul of the original Final Fantasy 14 which launched in 2010 that was met by poor reviews and a very lukewarm reception. The upgrade features a new story, updated gameplay and is built on a new engine and has upgraded server structures to provide better stability.

This will not be the only existing MMO to be ported to the Playstation 4. Sony’s new console already features DC Universe online and Warframe in its launch line up, both of which are free-to-play MMOs which have been around for some time.

So after 1 expansion and a boat load of bug fixes is the game now even playable. As it was easily the worst mmo launch in the history of gaming.

its not an expansion the game was so bad it was re-built pretty much from the groud up on a new engine.

It is much much better than the original FFXIV V1.0 and it has favourable reviews from its re-launch. i think its like 7-8/10 area.

im playing it on cerebus server and i enjoy it, there's plenty to do and a good mix of solo and party play. i work for a living so i only spend maybe 2-7hrs a week on it and i can get lots done in that time.
