Diablo 3 is almost definitely coming to consoles, but Blizzard is still trying to keep the fact a secret from fans.
A Blizzard community manager has confirmed that the upcoming action RPG Diablo 3 will be appearing on consoles as well as the PC, confirming the worst-kept secret in the history of gaming.
Posting to microblogging service Twitter, Blizzard community manager Micah Whiple responded to questions surrounding the existince or otherwise of a console release with the simple message: '
Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project.'

Eurogamer back on the 10th of January, Whiple's post has since been deleted from Twitter. In a follow-up, Whiple explains: '
"Yup" wasn't meant to be an announcement. We're still exploring a console version, but more importantly working on the PC/Mac version.'
Blizzard has been hinting at the existence of a console Diablo 3 release for some time, posting job vacancies for console developers, but has yet to officially confirm or deny its plans; and it looks like Whiple's statement is simply more kindling for the rumour-fire.
Blizzard has already come under fire for its decision to implement always-on internet-based digital rights management (DRM) technology in Diablo 3, which will require the player to have an active internet connection during both multi-player and single-player gaming sessions.
Are you concerned that Blizzard's apparent cross-platform development stance will result in a poor port for PC players, or are you hopeful that the company will be able to make something both console and PC gamers can be proud to play? Share your thoughts over in the forums.

Already started. Diablo 3's minimal-polygon art style is both a way of pre-empting Torchlight 2 and the only way they could get D3 to work on consoles.
Quite honestly though, I don't really care what they do to D3 at this point. They already damaged the game to the point I am no longer interested. When I think of the hours I put into the first 2 games and expansions, it really is quite a shame they are going to lose what would have been an avid player.
A. Skyrim was also launched on consoles and still is a great game on the PC.
B. I played Diablo and DiabloII predominately online anyways, even if I was just hacking and slashing in my own private game. Being online with D2 provided the only way to transfer items between my characters without using a trainer/hack.
C. I play StarcraftII occassionally, but when I created my "RealID", I sure as heck didn't use my actual name.
D. The only time I'm going to be angry is if my ISP goes down and I can't play the game. It's a really rare occurrence, but it can happen.
The one that merely points out that Diablo was released for consoles in 1998? Doesn't add anything to the story really.
ohh, THAT guy! :|
