Frozen Synapse announced for iPad

Mode 7 has announced Frozen Synapse for the iPad, with a beta on the way shortly.

Indie developer Mode 7 has announced that the fantastic turn-based strategy game Frozen Synapse will soon be headed to Apple's iPad platform after a low-key reveal at Nottingham's GameCity event recently.

Mode 7 also used the announcement to reveal that Frozen Synapse has sold over 300,000 units on PC, Mac and Linux to date.

'Despite my lumpen, sausage-like digits, I am particularly excited about Frozen Synapse coming to the iPad,' said joint Managing Director Paul Taylor in a statement.

Frozen Synapse for the iPad will enter beta soon, says Mode 7, who have confirmed that the game will be compatible with both the original iPad 1 and newer iPad 2.

'Not only are we doing this iPad thing, but we are also looking at better ways of updating and supporting the game on its current platforms – expect some new things in the New Year.'

A price and final release date for the iPad version of Frozen Synapse will be announced next year.

Frozen Synapse has been a Bit-Gamer Hall of Fame inductee since it was released earlier this year. We still play it and we still think it's awesome too - which should help explain the 95 per cent score and Premium Award.

I'm not sure it will appeal to the ordinary iPad user, but I honestly couldn't think of a better medium with which to interact with this game on. I'd actually consider buying an iPad if there were more games like this on it.

Amazing, I have the PC version and have always thought this would be great on the ipad, although I would encourage the developers to also release an iPhone and (most importantly) and Android version as well.

With the fast approaching Amazon Fire bringing a quality AFFORDABLE tablet to the masses the Android tablet screne is about the take off and it would be great to see an inde developer riding that wave

Wow - this will be getting plenty of playtime on my Ipad 2 - assuming the mouse control gets transferred well to the touch screen.

I love strategy games like this, on iOS there are some great ones for example:

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/hunters-episode-one-hd/id415284093?mt=8
More or less space hulk, the game

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/lux-dlx-2/id299813413?mt=8
Risk! Who doesnt love risk

Great little war game

However I do have to say I have yet to find a game where I felt I needed an ipad over an iPhone to be honest, fair enough it is nice to have all that extra screen space but not for the £399 that an ipad costs, hence why I feel if the devs could support the iPhone and cheaper Android Tablets they would make a killing

hopefully able to do crossplatform play.

the game will work perfectly on iPad, enlarge control icons slightly, pinch to zoom and 2 finger to pan around. best part is that Game Centre have turn-based API's with push notification. the game will be more than idea for iOS.

can't wait! it'll be one of the few games i purchase on iOS. (i've only been playing free games, i feel games are not worth the money, only bought apps that i'll always use)

They've stated on Twitter that it it works on iPad they're likely to do a Android version.

The internet, it is a good place to find this information :p.

Yes, YES GLWG is a fantastic game. Its also on Android, i've had it a month and i'm addicted.

Frozen Synapse looks like the perfect phone (or tablet *mubbles*) game. That is why I haven't bought it yet as I have been waiting for phone version. Add in cross platform play and the world will be a better place.

Do it dev's, you owe it to the world. ;)
