Replay Games has teamed with Al Lowe to make HD remakes of the Leisure Suit Larry games.
Replay Games has announced that it is teaming up with series creator Al Lowe to create HD remakes of the Leisure Suit Larry adventure games.
Having sold over 10 million copies over the course of eight games and 24 years, Leisure Suit Larry is one of the most successful adventure games series ever made. Each of the eight games typically features the eponymous Larry as he tries to seduce proportionately unlikely ladies.
Replay Games has said that the remakes, which will start with the first game Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, will lead into a series revival should they prove successful.
It should be pointed out that numerous Leisure Suit Larry games have been remade before - the 1987 release of Land of the Lounge Lizards was previously rebuilt with new graphics in 1991, for example.
'We originally hooked players with the concept of a naughty game that was unusual and not found anywhere else,' Lowe told VentureBeat.
'They stayed and liked the games because they were funny. My goal is to make it funny, and there is a sore lack of humour today in video games.'

Loved this news! I played the first one on my 286 pc (Peacock brand, i know, having played Larry on a pc with cock on its name). The LSL7 Love for Sail on 486, I even played on my current pc with compatible mode on and lots of things. A real laugh!
Make it good and bring it on!
But I though exceptions disproved rules? Anyway, if GTA series are not meant to be at the very least a parody I must have a sick sense of humour. I nearly wet myself listening to some of the radio station commentary & dialogue in 4 is prizeworthy. Are not "The Baconing" and "Orcs Must Die" also intended to be humourous? I'm sure there are others, though admittedly not all big budget jobs. But if you consider tv programming as any kind of guide, smutty innuendo kind of went out with Benny Hill, really.
Any of the older members like me remember a game on the Amiga, which was like an adult movie making manager game? You had to get more famous to hire better girls, buy better cameras, hire better studios etc?
I remember playing it, but can find anything on google! It was like a soft porn version of Rock Star Ate My Hamster.
They used to be funny. There were a lot of adventure games that were really funny, Monkey Island, Sam n Max, Grim Fandango, Maniac Mansion etc. And even RPG's were funny, some great stuff in Planescape Torment. So yeah, there isn't much humour now, but there used to be. Although I personally think that all gaming is crappy now compared to how it used to be. You only need to look at something like Dragon Age 2 compared to Baldurs Gate 2 and see how things have changed :(

Good times.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
With luck, it'll just be like the "Monkey Island" remakes...the original with better graphics?
Portal?
Exception that proves the rule?
If there's an exception then it isn't a rule.
Make it good and bring it on!
