I am suspicious about the low minimum settings I doubt it will run anything close to smooth with those.

How will they get this onto a console? I'm not a pc v console troll, it's all gaming to me, but these are the highest specs I've seen for a multi-platform game.

That doesn't appear to be bit-tech's fault. Eurogamer also has the same spelling error. Must be copy and pasted straight from EA?

Easy. Rip out all the high res shadows, backdrops and buildings. Replace with low res bleh. Turn off AA and any other after affects. Set AI to stupid. Remove unnecessary random items. Remove necessary but rarely used items. Set resolution to 1280x720....if you're lucky :D

On topic - It's going to destroy my system :'( The other half is going to kill me when I start mentioning more upgrades :(
mighty_pirate 20th September 2011, 17:18 Quote
Grantedly I'm slightly above the recommended, but I ran the alpha flawlessly at 1920x1200 all maxed out. And one would hope there's been some further optimisation since then. So the specs seem realistic for slightly reduced settings.
feedayeen 20th September 2011, 17:18 Quote
The minimum specifications are approximately equal to consoles, they can't run the DX10 stuff, but that simply means that some pretties are not available. It is somewhat discouraging however to see my card listed at the recommended level, few more years and I'm going to be due for another upgrade then.
Bede 20th September 2011, 17:26 Quote
I don't believe you will be required to have a sound card just to play the game. That would be amazing though! I'm glad I'm just within the recommended specs - this never used to happen to me :D
Fordy 20th September 2011, 17:38 Quote
I don't know what a "GHZ" is, but I know it ain't a measure of frequency.

Glad I have a 64-big edition of Windows though, otherwise I'd be missing out a treat!

My rude sarcasm over, I would love to watch someone playing BF3 (hell, BC2 even) with a 3870.

Yep, from DICE, but I've now been through and corrected all the mistakes I could find, which also comically included plenty of 'Radions' as well as 'GHZ' and 'DirextX' - you can all get back on topic now ;-)

mine runs DX:HR smoothly on high, Dead Island, Dead Space 2, and even Crysis 2 on med-high.... its the Witcher 2 it has problems....

...then again, i only run it at 1680x1050 on my 21" LCD :)

8800GTX and Core Duo 2 2.4 at 1366 x 768 res.

Deus Ex runs ok and it has similer specs to BF3.

Your sentence has an adjective without a subject to modify. This mistake can easily be fixed with the addition of "I am". :D

Don't get too excited, it's just a precaution. Storage requirements are often inflated to compensate for additional space required for patches and future content. God forbid the requirements say, for example, 15GB and the game actually requires 16GB thus potentially making users with only 15GB of free space unable to play despite meeting the requirements.

You should be fine with the 460, they are over spec-ing at 560 1gb, likely for big gaming screens running max settings wanting smooth game play..a 1gb 460 will be more than enough.

Don't I know it - I have an eyefinity setup & it (Witcher 2) will only open with either black bars above and below on the middle fo three screens ffs or with black bars on the side screen but unable to view/play because you can't shift the HUDs. There was a work around but the developers (seemigly deliberately) broke this with an "update". I will NOT be buying another witcher game until they sort out this glaring problem. And i'm not the only one... just check the witcher forums!

Metaporic 21st September 2011, 00:09 Quote
Yea Tyr, I said the same thing on the last page. I cant see anyway that a 560 is supposed to the minimum equivalent of a 6950. Even if say the game seems to be running better on the 560 than its equivalent 6850/70, id not imagine it would be more than 2 or 3 fps at best, Nvidia must be paying them off to claim a 6950 is needed, damn that TWIMTBP.

Makes me kinda regret opting for the 6870 over the 560 GTX. Oh well, both are just the smallest bit better than my 4650 lol.

I'm with you i bought my XFX ATI 5830 card a year ago and with the fan on high it makes such a horrible noise and temps creak up fairly high 80-90c.I can't justify a new card yet. A 30 'Squid' cooler may just be what i'm looking for plus i can achieve a little OC without a massive concern i will brick my card and hopefully push some more performance out of it.
Opinions welcome?

As mentioned here, DDR2 is crazy expensive these days, and if I had decided to hold on to my s775 system and upgrade to 8gb (currently sporting 4gb), I'd also have to match my current overclockable RAM to even stand a chance of maintaining my 4ghz clock...

...then again, i only run it at 1680x1050 on my 21" LCD :)

come on, at least it should run at medium settings :(

I'd bloody hope so, i'm still on a q6600 at 3.54Ghz with an Ati 4800 wc'd to 990Mhz Core and 1180 on the ram, runs BFBC2 on medium flawlessly with no loss of performance, on high its sometimes drops the frame rate but medium does me fine on 21" lcd also. Hopefully it'll see me through another 6 months on bf3, as i cant afford a card til at least January :'(. Only just ordered now ;)

I have played this game already, and I must say although the game engine seems very good and the graphics are amazing. i did not feel like the on-line experience was that great ( i was playing on the PS3 which could be partly the reason, being a 360 gamer as well as PC. But the game did not feel to great. I have also played modern warfare 3 and that as out of this world. And i am not a Call of Duty fanboy, i prefer BF BC2 to Call of Duty modern warfare 2 but not this time. the tables have been turned and i must say call of duty will be the best game of the year. no questions asked.

Easy. Rip out all the high res shadows, backdrops and buildings. Replace with low res bleh. Turn off AA and any other after affects. Set AI to stupid. Remove unnecessary random items. Remove necessary but rarely used items. Set resolution to 1280x720....if you're lucky :D
