Flying Wild Hog announces Hard Reset

Flying Wild Hog, a team made of ex-CD Projekt and People Can Fly staff, has announced Hard Reset.

Flying Wild Hog, a new Polish developer formed from ex-CD Projekt and People Can Fly staff, has announced its new shooter, Hard Reset.

A PC-exclusive title, Hard Reset is described as a hard science fiction game, according to PCG and will use a new scratch-built engine, called Road Hog.

'The PC-exclusive title transports players to a haunting, dystopian future, with humanity on the verge of extinction, confined to its last standing city and under constant threat from the robotic hordes that aim to annihilate mankind,' goes the official spiel.

Hard Reset is scheduled for release in September 2011, though a publisher has not been announced for the game yet.

Check out the teaser trailer below to get a first glimpse of the game, then let us know your thoughts in the forums.

Can't be any worse than any of the Matrix games, at least.

Looks like a cross between Bladerunner and Deus Ex.

Well we have to hope that PC exclusive devs understand the community better than those who focus on the console side of gaming. I am hopeful that if there is a DRM on the game that it will not be a restrictive one such as the likes of "always-on."
If it is then they will again have to learn a tough lesson about restrictive DRMs making piracy seem more viable to some people for a stress free game.

+1.

I'll get this just to support the cause.

Harcore SF got me hooked right away, too.

You're telling me they just announced a game that is releasing in two months? And they still don't have a publisher?

It sounds too good to be true. My money is it gets pushed back at least two months.

I was interested the moment I read hog, I like a good roast.

New developer, new engine, dystopian future. Sounds a little like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to me.

We're all aware - perhaps unwillingly - that the upcoming Deus Ex is highly likely to be reduced to an "im teh connsowl oughnar" level of imbecility.

This is not, I fear, a reason to get unreasonably excited about this. I shall, though.

If this can be anything like Witcher but in a cyberpunk world it can only be win win.

They can use any DRM they want, I don't care as long as the game is PC exclusive. I am interest.

How on earth did this game fly so far under the porcine tracking radar that the first widespread news about it is two months before launch?

I want it so badly that I'd still be happy if it was as bad as Crysis 2. So long as the minimum system requirements is a multicore CPU and at least a GTX260/HD4870.

I like the game's website too, http://hardresetgame.com/, which includes some scrolling lorem ipsum java.
The developer website is interesting too: http://flyingwildhog.com/

The world needs more cyberpunk.

Piqued my interest, but I echo previous sentiments -- details are a bit thin on the ground for a game that's a couple of months away from release.

That wasn't a 2 months before release trailer - no story, no action just pictures of a guys face and some backdrop. If you'd just showed me that trailer I'd say release was at least a year, perhaps two off.
