Bethesda announces Dishonored

Bethesda has announced it will publish Dishonored, a new stealth game from Arkane Studios.

Bethesda has announced that it will publish Arkane Studios' next title, a new 'FPS stealth adventure game' titled Dishonored.

Arkane was bought out by Bethesda's parent company, Zenimax Media, last August.

An exclusive reveal of the game has gone to US magazine Game Informer, who describe Dishonored as 'the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride'

'It's a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone. It's a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in. It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.'

Several notable developers are attached to the title, including Harvey Smith (Deus Ex) and Vikto Antonov (Half-Life 2).

Dishonored is set for release next year on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

sounds brilliant, looks like Hitman got competition.

Innnnnnnnteresting :-) Might offer a nice change of pace; hope it's a bit less frustrating and forgiving than the Hitman series.

Exellent, I really enjoyed Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah, Can't wait to see how this plays out :D

Dark messiah was one of the best atmosferes I ever played. The sense of dpth in the tomb phase of that game is amazing.

But the best of all is it will be released to PC as well :D

Misread the title, was expecting an African poaching adventure

Not anymore. Have you seen what Hitman 5's like? It's about as stealthy as Splinter Cell: Conviction was.*

*IE, not very.

This game sounds like...just pure awesome! Certainly has all the ingredients for becoming something great. Went straight to being my most anticipated upcoming non-sequel title.

Anybody immediately think, oh, fallout 3, but without any weapons?

Joking aside, lets hope it lives up to the early hype, and doesn't fall into the trap of being a cover based FPS with a "sneak" button

Sounds awesome. Had enough of these mindless, but spectacular shooters. Make me work for my kill - much more interesting

Precisely lol.

Same here. Titles like COD and BF with incessant in your face explosions end up really bland and desensitizing. "There can be no loud without quiet".

Like the sound of this -- long time since we had a decent first-person stealth game.

I love Smith taking a swipe at all games with "moral choices" being binary choices in dialogue that often ignore whatever you just did in the game.

Unfortunately, my current rule with "moral choices" is "the more the developer craps on about it, the less choices you'll have to make."

Nice, will have to see about investing.

Put in 2-4 player co-op and I'm in. Games like this aren't as fun by your self as they are with a cpl mates working together.
