Microsoft announces Xbox Live TV

Microsoft has announced it will soon launch Xbox Live TV around the world, starting in the US.

Microsoft has announced that it will soon release a new TV-watching service for Xbox Live, labelled as Xbox Live TV.

Unveiled as part of Microsoft's E3 2011 conference, Xbox Live TV will allow users to watch TV via their Xbox 360 consoles, as well as other video services. Sky TV, Canal Television and Youtube were all named as partners for the service.

Mixed Martial Arts broadcasters UFC Live has also partnered with Microsoft for this launch.

Xbox Live TV will have a focus on Kinect's voice control features too, with users able to change what they are watching by declaring what they'd rather see to the Xbox 360.

Xbox Live TV will see an Autumn release in the US, as well as other unnamed global territories.

what gets me about this is that its yet another thing we have to pay £10 a month for on top of everything else

(although it is a potentially cheaper multiroom option)

So if someone in 'House' mentions Scrubs in passing for example, the xbox wont hear that and swap channel?

It will be probably done like the rest of Kinect.
You shout Xbox, then it brings up options, then you say select channel, then you say the channel.

If it is just you shout the channel. It will probably work out whats from the tv and whats from you.
But it probably wont because they never bothered (or did a good job) on the xbox when playing a game.
