THQ has unveiled a new logo which 'epitomizes the change, innovation and creative growth that are our cornerstones.'
THQ has unveiled a new logo to replace the old white-on-black branding which has long been associated with the publisher.
According to THQ's CEO, Brian Farrell, the new logo is meant to reflect the changing state of THQ and it's continuing commitment to innovation.
'
Our new logo epitomizes the change, innovation and creative growth that are the cornerstones of the new THQ,' said Farrell in the official press release.
The 'new THQ' that Farrell refers to is likely a reference to the way the publisher has restructured and refocused over the last few years. The company has gone from
lay-offs and
$430m losses in 2009 to
poaching top staff from Ubisoft and brokering new deals with film-maker
Guillermo Del Toro.
The new logo will start appearing on all new packaging and marketing material this February, rolling out everywhere else shortly afterward. Let us know what you think of the new logo in
the forums.

Did they hire the same people who did the London 2012 logo?
(They must have paid more though since the THQ logo is better than the London 2012 one, to be fair... even though both suck)
What is it with big companies trying to be cool and refreshing when 'updating' a logo/design/interface (etc), but instead cocking up and coming off as outdated and out of touch?
I'm almost speechless.
I'm guessing you have no clue how design works?
Just because the final outcome is simple, or minimalistic, doesn't mean there wasn't alot of work put into this.
This isn't simple or minimalistic, it's just stupid. It's as if THQ hired some designer wannabe in his early teens with no education or sense for design who thinks he's just supposed to make letters as different as possible for no rhyme or reason.
Just using Times New Roman would be an improvement over this. And THAT would even be minimalistic.
BTW THQ I can make a better one for you ;)

In a week time, you guys won't even remember
If it turns out that they halted all game development to focus on this logo (not a suggestion) then you'd be more justified in having a go at it, but unless you like printing off all the company logos and hanging them on your wall (who wouldn't if they had the time?) then it shouldn't be a problem... should it?
This smacks of management book says new logo will change our image 1980's theory as opposed to slightly more modern thinking like why do people buy games? (large advertising spend) EA/Activision thinking.
Truth is we buy games either cause they are good (dawn of war) or part of a franchise that was good so give it a shot (dawn of war 2) or cause it was cheap in a sale x3 (£4 for gold version on impulse still not played it)

Your comment reminded me of the first skit in this episode of Monkey dust.
It's hideous.
Seriously what does this PR twadle actually mean?
I am suprised they didn't manage to squeeze "culture" into that statement seeing as that's the new "in" word in business.
And no, I'm not joking or trolling. It appeals to me.
Oh lord, i loled so hard, this will never leave me :D
The steeply slanted lettering and background, the "shiny" silver text (in some versions), the red "racing stripe"... the old logo is pretty trash as well.
