Duke Nukem Forever demo on the way

Gearbox Software has announced it will definitely have a Duke Nukem Forever demo available.

Gearbox Software has announced that it has plans to release a Duke Nukem Forever demo in the near future, one which will be available for all fans to have a go with.

The Opposing Force developer previously announced that a demo redemption code would be included with Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, which goes on sale this Friday for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Now, it seems that won't be an exclusive.

"The demo is going to go out to everybody," says Gearbox's Steve Gibson in a comment to Digital Spy.

"The feeling is that we want people to feel that it's real. We want people to know that 'holy crap, they're actually making plans.' It's kind of like, Borderlands: Game Of The Year is great and by the way, these guys are also working on this, and it is real, and we're trying to get that association, that proof."

"These guys are making concrete plans, they're are putting stuff in a box already with Duke's face on it. It's actually like a certificate, and you'll see that it's like 'In Duke We Trust'. It's fun. We're thrilled to death."

Gibson also confirmed that the demo will be available ahead of the full game's release and will be different to what has been previously shown about the game.

"We want to - I don't want to spoil the surprise - but I think it's going to be fun and people are going to be surprised at what we put in there and what happens with it."

I hope the internet is ready for the mass downloading that'll happen when the demo is available.

Looks like the DNF jokes may have to end.

Never played the original?! Go find a copy and play it now!!

...kinda reminds me of the South Park/WoW episode where Butters says 'I don't play World of Warcraft...I play Hello Kitty Island Adventure....'

If you haven't taken a look in the "Videos of Awesome" thread, I would refer you to this post.

The real question is, if Duke Nukem finally gets released, what are all games journalists going to use for joke fodder? Joe?

Wow... all this hype for some crock-of-crap-tired-of-waiting-does-my-face-look-bothered consolified port of poo.

Really... GTFO

OMG I hope it comes soon I have been waiting so long that I have grown from a teenager into an adult in 15 years.

Shake it baby!

Does anyone else find it amusing that 'DNF' in sports results stands for "did not finish"?

I gave up caring years ago.

An even bigger surprise than it being released, will be if it is actually worth playing.

Interesting that they've backtracked on the demo access being provided ONLY to orders for Borderlands GOTY ...

And most welcome as well!! Thank god they saw sense!

I'm gonna rip off your head and...

I'll be intregued to see minimum requirements given this engine's been in development for years. Either it'll be way behind the curve, or they'll have totally gone overblown and be a few years too soon.
Jipa 11th October 2010, 13:42 Quote
Who cares? It would have to solve the worlds' food crisis and end all wars to live up to how long it's taken to make/all the hype. It's gonna be a disappointing pile of steamer (if) when it comes out.
V3ctor 11th October 2010, 13:58 Quote
I think it will be one of the most bought games ever, and pirated too XD C'mon... This game has more publicity than Doom and Crysis put together...

This is the ultimate game, everyone will want to play it, or know how it is, because of it's development time everyone is curious
Evenge 11th October 2010, 14:16 Quote
Well at least I'm still waiting for this, but I just don't understand why Take2/2K didn't act sooner when it became obvious that 3D Realms is just doing it over and over again? Since Borderlands was a fun game to play, I now have some faith that DNF will actually be something more than just an outdated shooter...

And the surpise is...

Its a 2D side scrolling platformer!!

DNF is going so retro is goes back in time to the very beginning of gaming history.

Oh and to anyone who has never played DN3D, shame you missed it, it had so many firsts when it came out. I It was the first game I played that had, remote cameras showing other parts of the level, the first time I'd seen remote bombs & trip mines and the shrink ray was just hilarious.

I supose I'll be like a lot of gamers, I'll have a look just because I'm curious and because I remember just how good DN3D was in its day - looks ghastly now and I never could get the hi-def pack to work otherwise I'd play it today just for old times sake.

Just kidding.
Cool_CR 12th October 2010, 00:56 Quote
hail to the duke so so many good wepons and cool stuff that are now so standard.

Will feature a surprise too. Polite language a duke? That would be a surprise

I'm trying to be excited about this, but I am unable to muster much enthusiasm at this point. It all feels a bit "meh" to be honest. Don't get me wrong; I loved the original Duke, but this has simply been too long in the making that I fear what made the original Duke so great will inevitably have been lost in development and cancellation. I'll check out the demo, if or when it comes out, but will I buy the game? I'm not so sure.
Sanzy 12th October 2010, 14:44 Quote
Well its only took a decade to make! I used to love duke nukem.
Mongwopman 13th October 2010, 08:02 Quote
Duke will break the internet when the demo is released!

I for one, am stoked!
